Yup a few spare bits and pieces from the North Star set, Personally I think it is a great set, might find a few more to use on the open platforms.

Very quick update.

The after control platform in the kit lacks the platforms for the quad 0.5".



The bases from a couple of 20mm tubs and some plastic strip solve the issue.



Meantime the next level on the bridge is fixed down, searchlights, signal lamps, rangefinders and ladders added.

Well, as for the North Star stuff - - I did find a supplier in Germany, and their own site. Guess what - bridge equipment and the Vickers .50", both versions, currently sold out. No joke. Not that I would know somebody who contributed to that situation But the BBB set is pretty decent, to be honest

Thanks, neat trick for doing the supports. Cut an a piece of plastic strip the right height and width, glue in place and trim to shape with side cutters.

Small progress today.

Basic construction of the mainmast under way, here test fitted in place.



So far so good.

The starfish, kit parts v WEM

Test fitted in place, will need a little fettling to be perfect.




The compass platform and it's ladders have been fitted.



A rare poorly fitting piece of railing from WEM, the rooftop railing was too wide between the stations at the aft end, a little trim and all was well.

As I said, need to tackle the detail around the after superstructure.

The Admiralty Modelworks resin lockers and vent tops, they provide brass rod for the stacks.



Brass rod fitted to the vent caps



All the resin components sprayed.



Fitted in place.



A view from starboard quarter, kit parts also added.



The mainmast assembly completed.



The midships searchlight platform painted, searchlights and carley float added. Glued in place.




The mainmast sprayed and test fitted in place.

This Admiralty set seems a really nice one - I like the touch of all the brass piping etc.

I am impressed with the Admiralty set, it corrects most of what needs correcting (the big structural bits anyway) and adds some detail, the boats are very nice. Aldo get a bonus of a cast resin ship's crest to go on the base.

The WEM etch starfish is really nice and a great improvement over the kit part.

The brass rod for the vent stacks is really practical no warped resin bits.

Nice work on the Repulse, Si! The WEM replacement for the spotting top is a real improvement!

As it seems, you are quite well underway here, should be able to see the finishing line once your spotting top is installed and manned

You are so right, in this scale I think the open windows add so much depth.

Will of course be adding some detail to the interior of the spotting top. at least the support for director on the roof, and some voice pipes, maybe ,re if I can find the info.

Bit more progress today, but haven't had a chance to download the pics yet, Back at work tomorrow, so back to normal pace.
