The turrets looks great! Good choice to use the kit range finders.

I'm a bit ignorant on this but everyone seems to replace the kit turrets with AM. Is there a major issue with them?

She's really coming together! The Lion Roar turrets look great; the well sculpted blast bags especially catch the eye; maybe it is the softer shapes among all the straight angles? Anyway, I am continuing to enjoy your most impressive build!

Have to agreed the kit rangefinders are better than the resin one. Nice job matching them up.

thank you very much for your kind comments, that's most appreciated!! Yes, I think I'm really about to catch that glacier. So it's still pretty fast - I don't know yet wether I'll find bench time on the weekend...

As for the turrets, one point are the way over pronounced rivets (or whatever they are) on the kit's turret top. I'll post some pictures withe the AM turret compared to the kit's ones.

Sorry, no update today - as I already anticipated, no bench time during the weekend...

However, I shot some pictures of the resin and the kit's turrets:







Main difference as far as I can tell are the turret tops, way overdone on the kit's parts.

The WEM turrets do look a lot better than the kit parts, the detail looks crisper, there is more of it, and it is more accurate.

just a little progress over the last weeks - not really all that much work and bench time possible, but I do like the look of it. That's why I could not resist posting quite a lot pictures for a rather small update...

Forward turrets with PE and the UP Launcher:

















And paint on - apart from the red/blue circles on 'A' turret, they are all grey. Not my favorite look - I would have liked the blast bags in some dirty white canvas color, but references show that in May '41 they were indeed all grey... Makes painting simple, though...



















So much for now - hope to get the after turrets done soon...

Once more, real life kept me away from the workbench. I'll try to squeeze in some time this weekend but can't promise. So take this as a sign of life and yes, HMS Hood WILL continue!!

First I installed the anchors, they are replacement parts from North Star.
Some copper wire to help get the chains through the hawsepipes and installed:







And anchors in place.









Next the ships propellors.







...and the aft big guns




















And that's where I am at - still more to do than it looks...

Moving slowly ahead - main railings are on.
I decided against the stanchions that would hold the canvas on official functions and the like - Hood was in shipyards hands not too long before the Bismarck chase, so I would think those to have been cut and removed, they are more a peacetime feature. And I can't find them on the photographs from April/May 1941...
However, I installed the three davids. Not sure that is correct, either, but they are nice and give a busy look, and they could have still been there...
