The deck parts fit together better than that, I did not want to risk the catwalks as the deck will have to come off for painting.
Some of the Duvet covers mate, the bedroom is next to my workshop, which means it is my "photographic studio" as well.
Mrs Duster is not always best pleased with this.

This week's progress.
The funnel interior.
Under construction.
Ready for paint.
The funnel cap needs the moulded exhausts need removing.
Done.
Interior piece fitted, a bit black on black, but it is in there.
The upper platform & funnel cap test fitted.
More soon.

Wow Si, great work on that funnel. You have so much detail going on with this build I would not be surprised if you added the boilers! Keep up the great work!

The funnel interior shows up a lot better in real life, and it means with a relatively short funnel like that it means you aren't looking a plastic blank.

Guilty as charged, a funnel like this one the solid kit cap does not cut the mustard and opening up would mean a void that would be way too shallow.
I do like it when an upgrade provides parts like this.

I have peered down more than a few gaping voids in larger scale ships, even in competitions.
I do like a little funnel detail in there.

which differs from the kit platform.
Having looked at the photographs in AOTS, the kit platform looks right for Intrepid 1944.
More boring stuff I am afraid,
The structure under the bow.
The three rear centre sections are invisible when the deck is in place. I will be saving the bits that go in there for something where they may be more visible.

This is feeling like I have bitten off a little more than I can chew. But if I take it one step at a time, it will get there....
I hope....
What I would really like on the carrier front would be an early CVE, Bogue class, the RN had a fair few, lots of variety of fit and air wings.
