Thanks Russ,

Lots to go yet, I need to start thinking about the base, and how the bow below the waterline is going to sit in it.

Si,

that's a very, very cool build!! I admire your boldness in removing the bow, and your skill with the scratch build and attention to detail (e.g. open porthole) very much! That's going to be a great one of yours!!

Cheers,

Jan

Thank you for your confidence Jan,

There is a long way to go yet, not only the ship, the dock and all usual detritus on it, the water around it etc.

will be glad to have you along for the ride.

Small amount of progress.

Paint going on the superstructure interior.

More structure going in the hull going in, lots more if these shots to come.

Another medication, the hatch in the front of the bridge structure needs opening, drilled out, it has to ne squared off.

More soon.

More work on the bow.

studying the photographs it appears the lockers around the superstructure were ditched, so the holes are filled.

More detail going in.

The hull plating for the starboard side cut to shape and curved for fitting.

Fitted.

The rough final shape of the foredeck drawn in.

cut to shape.

needs roughing up a bit yet,

The open hatch in the front of the bridge tidied up and an etched cover fitted.

More soon.

They are interesting, but as you say Russ, not the easiest thing to do.

This still has a very long way to go, and there is quite a lot I have no idea how I am going to tackle it yet. Still as the old saying goes, "I am not going to take my fences till I have to"

Si,

Been out of touch with the forum this past week, just got back into town today. Glad to see you are making excellent progress with duplicating the damage and historical accuracy. Looking forward to you next report.

Glad to have you back Mate, thank you for your kind comment. This is the trickiest build I have attempted so far.

Simon: This may sound strange to you and most probably all here. I am not really a modeler. For me modeling is an attempt to put texture on history. In other words create something that is a visual aid to what I really do, which is study history.

Your twin Norway efforts have actually reversed the process. I was so impressed following both of these builds, that I realized I know next to nothing about the campaign in Norway, so I have set out to study it so I might better appreciate what you have done.

I started with a German account, then on to what the RN had to say. It usually works the other way around. See what you started.

I hope you are enjoying the process Chuck, and Modeller or not, I welcome your comments.

I will honest, I don't know whether I am modeller because I am fascinated by History, or I am fascinated by History because I am a modeller.

Either way I don't let it concern me too much, I just relax and enjoy my problem.

Why not both?

I model a lot of the things I model for fun and purely aesthetic reasons which have nothing to do with history. I have paper tanks in my cabinet, mecha, starships and modern warships which have no combat history. Sometimes they just look cool!

Concerning your HMS Eskimo its coming along great!

Thanks Rory,

I like your style, if looks cool, build it. I guess I am just a modeller with a love of history, and trying to work out which is came first is a pointless exercise.

Apart from the History, the challenge of doing something different was the inspiration for this project, so it is both.

The important thing is we enjoy what we are building. This one, I am really enjoying the experience, at the moment....

Thanks for looking in Mate,

Busy weekend at Southern Expo, but still managed to get a bit more work done at southern Expo.

The keel and structure under the deck fitted.

The hull plating fitted.

Details going in the open end.

Railings on B gun deck, they need netting fitted, but that was quite dishevelled in the photos.

Cheers

Nice progress, the fit around the hull is looking nice and flush.
