Merry Christmas & happy new year to all.
It has been a while since I did anything with this one, but having decided the first attempt at the base is not right, I am cracking on with the ship whilst I work that bit out.
The after superstructure getting etch fitted.
The platform for the quad 0.5", plastic parts assembled and allowed to dry in position.
Test fitting all the sub assemblies built so far.
The hull sprayed with red primer.
Will need a little sanding around the point where the scratch-built section.

Hi Russ,
This build does remove two of the four biggest issues with the base kit, the bow & the screws, the boats I will replace from the spares, and the pompom, I have the Black Cat piece, which is really nice.
Good luck with the Punjab Mate, the faults aren't too difficult to correct, once done she does look like a Tribal.

Latest progress.
A Little sanding around what was left of the bow.
The underside of the hull masked ready for a coat of 507b
Upper hull sprayed.
The funnels, basic plastic parts.
Did not like to solid gunnel tops, so...
cleaned up and the kit etched funnel tops fitted.
The after funnel with steam whistles, platform & ladders added.
The decks painted. I am assuming this early in the war they were likely in the as built corcetine finish.
The sub assembles have bee sprayed, and here test fitted in place.
More soon.

I did loose the love a bit when I realised I got the first attempt at the base a bit off. It was too interesting a project for me to give up on. Now I have my eye on a more suitable base should be cracking on.

It is another thing I cannot work out about this kit, those funnel tops. It is a straight forward enough job fixing it though.

It is Tamiya XF79, Linoleum deck brown. applied with the good old hairy stick.

This was a case of seeing the picture I posted at the beginning of the build and thinking this has to be done. Never tried a battle damaged ship before, but so far so good.

The deck colour, I am not certain, educated guesswork mate. To the best of my knowledge the Tribal class were built with Corticene on their decks. As the photos of Eskimo at Narvik show her pretty much as built, so I am making the assumption the deck was the same.

Bit more progress on the ship.
Paint starting to go on in the hole in the bow, I am not 100% about the colours, but they are based on the preserved WW2 ships HMS Belfast & HMS Cavalier. They will need quite a bit of dirtying down yet.
Pennant numbers added.
B gundeck and the funnels down. At this point I had painted the forward section interior under B gun deck the interior deck colour , as this was a store / working chamber It most likely would have been painted steel deck.
The other major superstructure parts on.
The Bridge gratings need darkening with a heavier wash.
To aid with the light AA, I have acquired some quad pompoms and twin lewis guns from Black cat.

and the Lewis guns.
More soon.
