Alan:

Don't know how adverse you are to putting "Yanks" in your dio, but I did see a ery interesting little set. It is from Masterbox Models item number MTB3514. It has 2 US servicemen walking with some nice female figures (4 total). I found it at Great MOdels and I think it was around 12 - 13 dollars. You probably could substitute heads if you wanted to change to British. One is an officer the other an NCO

Hi Kenny,

Yip, like the rest of the build - more work required. The search for bits for the Genny room did produce another chair for the radio room. Knew I had another one somewhere lol, lol.

Cheers

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply and thoughts. I have the boys and girls already lol, lol. Some of the many figures yet to be built.

I hope to have a good mix of Allied figures including some civilians, even though it's a 'Home Front Dio' by this time it was very much a mix of nations.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

decided to make a small firepoint on the plug that helps secure the observation deck.

Need to paint the bucket and might add a rolled up hose.

Hi Guys,

Well with most of the internals done it's time to consider the outside. The Red/White was painted for a bit of fun but seems to have caught on. I found this pic of a painting on the web of Falmouth Lighthouse during WW2. It's the only reference I've been able to find regarding war time painting schemes apart from a written reference to Scottish Lighthouses which were painted black.

So what are your thoughts? Stick with the Red/White Scheme or go for the camo effect?

I've attached a picture of Folkstone Pier just because it looks great

Alan,

Amazing build, especially the exterior weathering on wood at the light house, the detail level at generator room and radio room. I don't know about WWII era electrical outlet. Since you have a radio with power cable on top of a file cabinet, you may consider to add an electrical outlet or two on a wall that facing one of those windows. I don't know if it fits the scenario or practical to do that. Just my 2 cents.

Best Regards,
Steven Lu

Hi Steven,

A small powerpoint and external cable might be a nice touch over by the side of the door. I could add some electrical junction boxes to the rear wall of the Genny room similar to those I made for the coal crane.

Gas was still the main source of lighting and power but electricity was emerging. I have a pre was broucher from my Grandmothers Old Hotel and one of the features along with High Tea was 'and electric light' lol, lol.

Thanks for the thoughts, I'll think on it.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

The site is behaving in an odd way, couldn' see any text when I posted but I post this anyway as I'm sure it will get fixed.

I have re-instated the clock, added a Union Jack and an other chair I found and this should compete the furnishings on the 1st floor.

I've also bluetec'd some signage to the outside to see what it might look like. A sign for the pier, a restricked Area sign and 2 recruiting posters one for e WRENS and one for the Merchant Navy.

Thoughts welcome.

Cheers

Al
