Gaston is a serial nit-picker whose many problems are gleaned from pictures and test shots.

Not your favorite then Warren I take it
On another note does anybody know owt about these kits a good friend of mine from my local model club turned up the other night and said there you go I have had a clear out wont be doing these you build them. Now this gent is retired and normally builds small scale Armour I loaned him some books for reference material and he said these are a return on the favor a true Gent this bloke.
And look at the price tag I wish you could still get kit for this price

I remember he came out with a load of problems with a P-61 at one stage and they turned out to be a load of whowee.
Have you had a look at the quality of the plastic in those fine boxes? You may find that is all they are worth going off other Novo kits I have seen and built in the past..

Hi Everyone.
Received two parcels today. One contained this..

This was the first ship with guns for the RAN. Originally bought by the state of Victoria and christened HMVS Cereberus, after a short time the RAN was formed and it was renamed HMAS Cereberus. The base where naval cadets are trained is called Cerberus today and the wreck is slowly rusting away in Port Phillip Bay. I built this one a few years ago now, but it went to the museum along with the rest of my ship models so I just had to get it again of course..
Next parcel contained these..

These were the last sets I needed before I started the Snowberry. Stay tuned for some expansion in the build log that has been halted for quite a while now.
Cheers
Warren

Hi there.
You may or may not remember but back in 2013 I built an Aoshima 1/350 IJN Kongo with Hunter wooden deck and some PE.
I really enjoyed that kit but it has since gone to a museum. Will I was looking at a Hobby site the other night I chanced to see that Aoshima were bringing out a Limited Edition of the Kongo. I thought to myself that it looked cheap enough, less than half most of the ones elsewhere, so I reserved one thinking it would take ages to come in.
Imagine my surprise when late last week I was notified the model had come in and one was on its way to me!

It arrived today from Japan.

The Aoshima kit hasn't got the casemate shape problems of the Fujimi kit (I checked again) and this time I won't forget to use the Flyhawk PE set I have for it. I will have to wait for a wooden deck though as I am not sure if decks for the old version will fit this one.
Cheers
Warren

Nice Haul Luciano, especially the QE. I also received two packages last week. Something small to widen my IJN collection. I like the Kongo class BB because of their slim, cruiser-like hulls. The Hiryu is another favourite of mine. Its absolutely unique in its placing of the bridge in the middle of the lengh of the hull. Along with the slim hull, I consider it to be the most elegant of all IJN cariers. I decided to do a WIP toppic on the Hiryu because there are basically non on the internet, but it may take a few months maybe even a Year before I get to it...

Not a Year to finish, but Year before I get to it

I have a few other things going on at the moment. I have two AFVs and one 1/32 plane on the bench. I also have the 1/350 USS Livermore about 20 percent done and This Year I plan on doing the IJN Agano also in 1/350. So the schedule is busy...

hey all,
The post lady just delivered this great package.

I saw it on Ebay last week and Naseby's comment about the Fujimi version of the Kongo is a better kit rung through my head. So I bought it. I am now selling the Aoshima Kongo on ebay. So if anyone is interested..

More packages should be arriving shortly.

Sorry to say Dave but it's the Fujimi kit that has got the issues see Warren's post above.
Naseby wish I could find a Jap carrier in the shops here, a parcel of that size is going to attract a nice shipping and handling charge plus will almost certainly get picked up by customs.

Luciana. Yea I remember you mentioning that the Fujimi kit has the case mate issue and after comparing the two kits I know exactly what you mean. All that aside the Fujimi kit does look better and does not have as much detail molded on the deck and the detail looks better. Not sure if I will fix the case mate issue OR not. Guess well see when I get to building

A couple of packages arrived yesterday. One with the Alliance Model Works IJN 25mm Triple AA guns for the Maya and reference material for the IJN Haruna. The 25mm look very clean and will be a good upgrade to the Maya. Now for the rest of the upgrades to arrive

These two were amongst a ton of stuff that came last week..

Eduard item in the 1/350 Akagi Upgrade Set to go with the Hasegawa ones that don't have all the details I wanted. The other is the Pontos 1/200 Set for the Trumpeter USS Missouri. Was waiting for it to come on special.

You may be right, I may be crazy.

So the post lady finally delivered the final parts for the IJN Maya

Since the Maya was the only Takeo Class Heavy Cruiser to receive the AA modification I wanted to make sure I upgraded the AA guns
They look good. Can't wait to put them together
