Luciano, Nice haul!!

I have been reviewing Hobby Link Japan more over the past few days, their prices are better than what I can normally find, but their stock is always so low.

Anyway, I just bought the same GMM set for the USS North Carolina, now I just need to purchase 1.1 gun mounts, early US Radar set by alliance and find some more 1/350 waer cooled .50 cal and I will have what I need to backdate the North Carolina.

Gents,

I am headed to see an eBay seller next weekend who has a lit of trumpeter kits and others. He also claims to have a lot of PE and resin kits. You can see some of what he has on eBay at jmoscola2012 and his prices. If there is anything specific your looking for pm me and I'll try and find it

Well, I visited the 'Intermodellbau', a German fare on modeling of all kinds. Ships were represented, but unfortunately only in a small area. Especially non of the major producers of the interesting new and announced kits were there, so that was at least good for my credit card. But it did not help all that much, somehow some stuff slipped into my bag...

Cheers,
Jan

Jan - nice haul, I need to make a run for some updated tools and supplies myself.

Yesterday I met with a great guy named Joe. He has a storage bin full of kits and he let me go through it and see what he had. Helped him organize the storage bin to help him out and he gave me a great deal on some kits.

No luck on increasing my little Imperial Japanese Navy but I was able to increase my US WWII Battleship collection and increase my options for the Cruiser and Guadalcanal Campaign.

Headed back up in a couple of weeks to help inventory the storage bin. Great guy, lucky to have met him.

Excellent choice Bryan, looks good.

A little something I picked up whilst in town today to add to my Bismarck references.

Si, I check the book, it's a 2010 second edition. I don't know if that qualifies as a reprint or if the second ed is largely gone as well and we are talking about a third...the guy on the fare had more than one of the 'Scharnhorst' available sitting on his desk, roughly €23.

Cheers,

Very nice Luciano!! I was in fact very tempted to get that Flyhaw set for the Belfast, in the end it was more the difficulty getting it here in Germany than the price! Please keep us updated about that once you start building!!!

Hi all,

Well the postman was kind enough to deliver a package from New York and one from Japan.

I pretty much have what I need for the USS North Carolina but the kit for the Noshiro has some damage, not sure it can be fixed so I will have to see what the vendor says.

The cruiser upgrades look good, will we be seeing those in use on the cruiser campaign?

Si

The Hadagawa PE for the Noshiro came damaged so I contacted the vendor. Other than that it is slim on upgrades so I'm looking at possibly getting the Agano upgrade to add to it. Well see

The mail arrived with a couple of packages for me. First up my Laffey kit for the Guadalcanal campaign. I am really looking forward to trying a ship. I may kill some time before August experimenting with water. Maybe with a much cheaper kit in case it goes badly.

My other surprise was a gift from my wife for our first anniversary: a detail set by Pontos!

I have had the Franklin for a bit, wanting to build her as the Bunker Hill circa Feb 1945 during the Home Island Raids. I have 1:48 kits of her entire air wing that I have started to do a bit of a display with, I love the GSB with yellow noses and arrow symbols. Then I had the idea to build the carrier to complete the idea. Trumpy's 1:350 kit seemed to offer a decent balance between detail and size, sort of how I feel about 1:48 aircraft.

My wife saw me drooling over the Pontos set online and treated me after I helped her pick out the correct set for what I wished to do. I figure maybe in about 5 years I'll feel skilled enough to actually build it, LOL! Seriously though, the carrier is a very long term project. She'll just have to stay tucked in the stash for now.

Paul,

Very nice. I have the Yorktown Pontos kit on order myself, hopefully it will arrive sometime in the near future.

If you dont mind me asking where did you order your Pontos kit from?

Looking forward to seeing your Laffey Build.

Dave,

I got it through an Ebay retailer, Hobbymaster. He is based in Philly which was why I went with him over some of the Asian discount sellers. I figured there was less likelihood of issues buying it from someone in my state vs across the Pacific!

It is an excellent product but very intimidating for a ship novice, so I am saving it for now.

Hi Paul,

Nice haul, fancy an Essex with Pontos upgrade myself. The quality of their etch is excellent, but their instructions can be a little confusing, great stuff though.

A little something I picked from Hannants today. tried to build this a few years back and it did not go well, my lack of experience not the kit.

Couldn't resist a second try.

Lots in the box

Including turned brass barrels, etch, stuff doe the masts and anchor cables, and loads of minute resin bits.

another addition to my pre WW1 stash.

Si great minds think alike, I ordered the same kit last week together with the Kombrig Kent and Pacific Crossroads De Ruyter to collect from Hannants, which I'll do once I finish the night shifts.

Oh there's also a 1942 San Francisco in the order for my Guadalcanal campaign which will get converted into the Nasty Asty.

That is a very nice haul Luciano,

The Dryad is a great kit, but not for the faint hearted.

Kent and de Reuter two great cruisers.

Looking forward to seeing the San Fran in the Guadalcanal campaign.

cheers.

Si, collected it all today, my wallet don't like me any more

The kits

The reference plus the Dryad and Do.24

Now to get a wooden deck for the Nasty Asty and we're set for the Guadalcanal campaign.
