Hi Michael,

Not yet! I am messing about with ways of strengthening the float struts without having a complete scratch job, they can just about take the weight of the fuselage, but I am not sure how long before the whole bang shoot collapses.

More as soon as I have worked it out.

Jonathan the kit does come with about 15 aircraft no helicopters though which is a shame as i like to see a good mix of craft on the flight decks

Flight Deck markings on some touch up needed and I use red and white pencils to get some of the finer lines now need to wheather and tone down the colour after a tidy up

Bit of a mess in the close up with the over spray leak

Floats on a last.

I turned the beast upside down and found the floats sat very neatly in place. so four dabs of superglue tacked them in place, then some Revell contacta applied for a final fix.

.

After a suitable curing period, she was turned the right way up.

A few detail parts and she is done.

Great work Si! Sometimes we're just sure something isn't going to work so we don't try for a while, then when we do it's not nearly so bad.

Thanks Michael, you are right, sometimes it just needs a break and a deep breath to get the that scary bit done, just the observer's gun and a few other details and she will be done.

Good going Si, You have won the A Model challenge there, it really looks nice!

While Ive been puzzling over CV-6's pilot house and bridges , I built some airplanes. Two Sweet Models Wildcats (yes I know they are FM-2s and not F4Fs) and a WingKit Dauntless.

Ive dressed them in early 1942 colors, they are complete, except I am waiting on some red and white stripe decal for the rudders.
Here's the whole project so far.

and Ive started making parts for the pilot house.

That print out of the deck is exactly to scale. given the amount of work going into the Island, that may be all the deck Im going to be able to manage.

Finished!

Final details, Gun, cat spools, tail guard etc have been added & painted.

Not the best or easiest kit I have built, but go there in the end.

I Give Hawker Osprey IV K5749, as flown from HMS Enterprise circa 1936.

D'oh! I hate it when that happens. At least it's still Grumman! Which F6F kit are you doing?

Yes I know that feeling, I picked up some cool decals for an F-18 only to find they were 1/72 then had to get a kit to go with them.

Cheers Rob.

I'm Doing The Revell 1/48 scale F6F-5. I had to order some Enterprise markings for the plane the kit didn't have any Enterprise markings in it.
