Hello All,
2 days till the end of the campaign unless you need an extension. If so let Michael know and I will grant a 3 month one if he PM's me before the 31st.
Great builds all of you,

Well, I havent nearly finished what I started. Aside from not having much time to play in the latter half of 2013, actually I think the scope of my CV-6 model has grown beyond far what I had originally imagined. I started out building a shelf diorama to put airplane models on, and now I find Im scratch building a complete, 1/144 scale detailed deck-up model. It may take years.

I did complete an airgroup of seven 1/144 airplane models for this project, and Id like to ask the admins and campaign leader if this piece might earn me the prize, even though it isnt exactly what I started out to build...

Sadly there is no TBD model kit in 1/144th scale, so we go with what we have, ancient Academy-Minicraft TBFs

the F-Toys SBD is quite a nice kit.

painting andn decaling done in two batches.

masking cockpit canopies in 1/144, mindbending, but so rewarding when you finally get to pull them off!

the Academy boxing is 20 years old, the Crown kit at least 30 years old. Minicraft is still stamping these out, unfortunately the only TBF model in 1/144th scale.

In any event, Ive put two more group portraits in the gallery.

I, personally, am satisfied. They are aircraft from the Enterprise. Well done Jonathan!

Thanks Michael. This was a very rewarding campaign. I learned alot about the Big E, and enjoyed seeing the other models in the campaign built.

Woohoo! Finished another. There were blood, sweat, and tears in that one. I tried to use a filter, following some articles I've read, and spent much time undoing it, but let's call that a lesson learned. Two photos in the campaign gallery.
Regardless, here are the final photos (The clear cement on the FLIR pod hasn't dried clear yet...)

Cheers, Happy New Year, all!

Ditto, Jonathan. All the work on those little canopies knocks me out! Great little air fleet you have going there.

Great news!

I had to move all of my kits into storage due to some unexpected issues that came up, and won't be able to get back to them until later this month at the soonest.

The campaign extension to March is good news indeed!

I've been making progress with my Big E, but she's nowhere near done yet!

March 31st is 10 weekends from now - you could make most of a fine hanger queen, at least, in that time...

New in box. I opened it 4 months ago, but you are right I can get it done if I stop playing WOT.

OK, With the extension and Shaun and Johnathan finishing under the wire, it's shaming me that I haven't even started my build yet. So I pulled the AM TBM-3 back out and will attempt to do more than just look at the box and think that I need to get started on that. Thanks Bruce for the extension, and thanks Michael for running this. I imagine that you're busier than a funeral home fan in July with your new role. Congratulations and thanks for doing it!
Box shot to come,
Charlie

Thank you for the extension, here I am, I have everything painted that needs to be. Now it is time for these massive decals. I might cut a few of the big ones to ease application. Some of the other decals are supposed to fit over 'rough terrain', deep groves and irregular surfaces so they will get surgery before aw well.

Holy crap, these decals are fragile. Progress is being made, but slowly. I had 3 out of 4 decals rip tonight alone. The weird thing is that these decals are thicker than any other that I have used before, but they are way more fragile. I am starting to get concerned about the saucer section decals.

I started with the engineering section of the ship and I have most of the engineering hull and warp engines done, but there are gaps where the decals ripped and small chunks were not recoverable.

I think I will paint some battle damage onto it when the decals are done to cover the gaps. I have had some luck with cutting the decals into sections before soaking them, but even after that some small sections have torn.

We will see how the next few weeks unfold...
