Hi Tom,

You could be right, most never re-appear. I dropped an undercarriage door for a 1/48th wingy thingy, I have since cleared my workshop completely, no sign of it. Could be evidence of the planet.

Belfast would make a fine addition to the cruiser campaign, particularly as she was in at the kill of my build:- Scharnhorst.

Si that sounds like a plan if the after market stuff is available. Plenty of time to gather it up. Was she still in the 1942 cammo? The Anatomy of a ship book is nice but no color schemes, and the front stack that everyone questioned is in the fold of the diagram.

At minimum I need brass guns and railings the rest seems okay.

Howdy Y'all
I couldn't understand from the tread if the end date will be extended. Is it still a possibility? I'm probably going to need more time as I've run into some family obligations this month. If not, I could finish it in the "Unfinished Business" campaign.
Thanks,
Don Smith

Great Tom,

I hear the Master set includes a resin correction part to correctly offset the centre barrel.

Good luck with whatever route you go down.

I second Don's question - has The Mighty Battleship campaign deadline been extended? If so, what is the new end date?

(If it has been extended I can do a bit more on my Yamato, otherwise I'll complete her more simply and wrap things up.)

Hi guys, happy to say I manage to complete her in time:

It is DML's 1/700 Pennsylvania build out of the box

Very nice. I'm looking on my phone I will check again on my pc. I have always been interested in the Pearl Harbor rebuilds. How well did the kit go together? Its in my stash. Again nicely done.

Hi Lawrence, nice Pensy!

As for my own battlewagon, I wanted to avoid scratchbuilding for this quick project, but a shortcoming of this Yamato kit is the absence of any representation of the ship’s distinctive mainmast. That mast was just too prominent a feature to ignore, so I went ahead and built one up using Detail Associates (part 2505) .015 inch diameter brass wire. This makes for a scale mast about 1½ scale feet thick in 1/1200.

Since the complex-looking mast assembly measures a mere ¾ of an inch in height, I made only a simplified representation of it.

It should look ok once I get the ship painted and rigged.

Hi Tom,

Its not a bad kit, but definitely not a Tamiya (if you know what I mean...lol) Test fitting/dry fitting of all the parts is an absolute must. Do also note there is an error in the instructions: PE for the foremast is included with the kit, but not mentioned at all in the instructions; I only realised this when I finish the build and there are leftovers on the PE set zzz.

Afaik, the kit allows one to build either a post-Mare Island modernised version (early 1943) or a late 1945 version; as usual DML does not indicate this in their instructions, so some research has to be done on one's part, esp on the radar setup.

Btw mine is the early 1943 version, or at least as accurate to that version as I can manage

I had given up on making the May 1st deadline. I have a ton yet to do, but an extension is appreciated on this end. There's still a chance for RM Roma!

Hi Russ,

Life has been kicking me in the pants for most of 2015 and the Roma has been sadly neglected. However, I've just finished a project for work that started in December and I now begin two glorious weeks off. The plan is a heavy dose of working on Roma. I still don't think I'll finish in time, but I'll move forward with the build regardless.

I know what you mean Joseph-somehow I think I will miss the new deadline as well

Hopefully you can do a separate build log of the Roma anyway?
