It certainly adds some eye candy! Happy wife...nothing else to add there!!

Only thing my wife had suggested before was adding some roadkill and heads to the back of a redneck pickup truck I was working on...LOL!! Not too sure how I should read into that one!!

Great job Warren, another cracker.

A bit more progress on the Duke.

Copper wire for raft lashings and flag halyards rolled and painted.

More floatation devices for Carley Floats.

The 20mm cut off the fret.

The gun cradle cut off the fret,

and folded.

It has been fitted, but no picture, all eleven will be done tomorrow, and I hope sprayed.

Watch this space.

You are a brave man warren, 28 has been enough for me.... this time

The assembly guns finished, except for the barrels, and ready for spraying.

The barrels, muzzle down, also ready for spraying.

Paint applied.

Finally completed, awaiting fitting. I did have a couple of issues getting the barrels in, where I hadn't quite got the barrel mounts folded perfectly.

Whilst that lot was drying on with the last of the carley floats, all rigged and ready to be fitted.

The last one on the roof of Y turret and four around the after superstructure.

Also on the decks on No.3 port and starboard 5.25" mounts.

Finally the 20mm fitted.

On the catapult deck.

and on the after superstructure.

Rigging, ensign & jack staffs, railings and radars, and then she will be done.

Great work Warren! This makes a fine start to the Inman fleet Mark 2!

Si, you are the master of the master barrel

Looks like you're well on schedule to finish by the end of the campaign

Si, just amazing photo etch work. What color are the life rafts? I was having a bit of trouble painting mine. Were they a hull color or a different gray? I wanted them to stand out a bit, artistic license, but still be with in the realm of reality. Last weekend got some serious building time in. I also found some scale chain purchased for an armor build but worked great replacing the kit plastic anchor chain. Well guys what do you think.

placed my first rails.

Drilling out the 4in guns to replace the barrels with brass was a real challenge. I will paint and mount them next weekend. I have to say ships are a real challenge compared to tanks. The paint as you go is new but I am really enjoying this build. The group really makes it fun, thanks guys.

Todd it even came black, I have to add one more, Academy only molded 2 chain holes I had to scratch a third. What color are the anchors anyway, black, gray or bare metal?

Pretty sure the anchors would have been painted the same color measure as the area around it. Not sure if you plan on weathering but the anchors do get beat on pretty good and chip and rust almost immediately. Just a thought. Keep up the great work.

In my opinion I think the anchor chain links are a bit fine Tom, but it probably looks better than the plastic chain provided.

As to the anchor, I would go with the hull colour, and if it has been at sea at all they will probably look pretty crappy as Todd said.

Cheers

Hi Tom,

Warspite is looking good, great work.

I painted the liferafts the surrounding superstructure colour , and then washed them with a dirty brown to give a bit of contrast and bring out the moulded detail.

Thanks Todd, Michael, Russ, appreciate the kind words and the support.

Si - incredible work. I wish I hadnt finnished the Musashi so fast now so that I could have incorporated what I have learned from watching you and the others build your masterpeices.

Tom - Your Warsprite is looking great. Watching you, Russell and Si complete your materpieces is giving me a greater appreciation for the RN battlewagons. I am definately going to pursue acquiring some of my own.

Si thanks for the tip on the rafts. Todd and Warren thanks for the advise on anchors I will be using it. the chains are I bit light but I'll stick with them because they look so much better.
I will be forging ahead next weekend, getting closer to her launch.
Gents I just want to say thank you for a most delightful group build. I'm currently in 2 others on sister sights and this has been the most supportive and community driven. It has been a pleasure. I would be honored to join another one and I have plenty of ships in the stash.
Good lord from tread head to swabbie

Always a great comment to read!! These guys are truly talented modellers and one of the friendliest crews around! Glad to hear you are having FUN Thom!

I need to really get things in order soon...I did sign up for this thing way way back...what should I build? Maybe an Arizona? Tiger?...Warspite? Time to start flipping some coins I think

Todd sorry to throw a spanner in the works but Tiger was a battlecruiser not a battleship fell foul of this myself when I signed up as I was going to build the Russian Kirov class BCG.

Too late for me to get a BB started and more importantly finished in time so I just come in and watch and learn.

Todd I vote for the Arizona as we already have a Warspite in the campaign however that should not stop you from doing Warspite if you wish.
