Thank you all for your kind comments and your ongoing support!! Especially with my slow speed, that's helps keeping my motivation!! That's really appreciated!

Just a very brief update, found an hour after work...

The railings bent, painted and in place, as well as four signal lamps. Now some more small stuff can follow swiftly...let'S see when I find some time next

Cheers,

Jan

Hey Jan, the railings are looking good! Are you planning to add any crew?

Thank you so much, Bernd and Tim!!

Again real life keeping me more busy than I thought...so once more I have to trust on you all's patience...

Tim,
as for the crew - I have three ships in my fleet so far, none with crew. I am not sure...I do have the Eduard PE figures, but they are entirely two dimensional. I rather tend not to, but seeing other models here with crew, like the Maya, may make me change my mind...

Cheers and thanks,

Jan

A little bit time during the week to add some small details...

Some stuff on the forward superstructure:

Cable reels on the after superstructure: (ups, just realizing on the picture - I have to paint the deck inside the tubes...)

More railings required to proceed forward...

Some painted and installed next to B turret. I removed the vertical ladders once more - of course I forgot that they, as well, have to line up with the railings. Easy fix, but stupid in the first place...
I decided not to install the railing bit next to the turrets, that will leave the opportunity to turn them.

Now I have to think of a smart way to cover the edge of the wooden deck...

Finally, the inclined ladders on the after part of the forward superstructure did not quite line up with the provided railings, so I fitted some 'extra bars'.

For all shown in this update, some paint and touch ups have still to be done...

So much for now, one more to follow before my workers will be dismissed on christmas leave...

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,

Jan

Coming along in leaps and bounds Jan

I never knew Belfast's bridge was on a turret and able to rotate though

Seriously though, really nice. Hope the dockyard gets a few more hours in before the big day...

Russ,

thanks a lot mate!!

You know, this turnable bridge, that was a very unique feature to Royal Navy Vessels for a certain period of time:
With the end of the area of the sailing ships, the captains of the RN warships realized that there was the requirement for them to look in different directions than just straight forward. However, it took them a while before they discovered the general concept that even a Captain can get up from his chair and walk and look around. So, in the meantime, that was resolved with turning bridges (Sorry...I apologize to all RN officers!! )

Cheers,
Jan

Jan,

Great job and nice adjustment mid placement (railings).

She is coming soon nicely. Looking forward to seeing your last update.

I know my dock yard will be full speed during the holidays. Seems to be the only time I can get in the supervise.

Impressive progress Jan!
And very tidy work on the fiddly bits. Don't let the workers have too much time off, they may not come back.

cheers

Gentlemen,

thank you all once more for all your kind comments!! That really helps keeping motivation high!!

Well, all dockyard workers have been dismissed on their Christmas Leave, they even left their workplace quite clean. Well, not perfectly so, but enough for the time being. I decided that I will do a dearly needed thorough cleaning of the airbrush before recommencing work rather than today...

But, much more important, here's the progress from the last days!

Progress on the forward superstructure first - touch up and painting of some details, and additional railings added.

With that being accomplished, it was payback time: I was eventually in the position to install some of the tiny stuff that I had assembled and painted earlier!! So here is just a bunch of photos of all the equipment 'shipped'

Just in order not to loose anything, I'll split the update here and start a new post...

Next was the after superstructure, all the fire control equipment shipped

And another ton of small still, that will mark my last actions for this year: all the tiny stuff from the main deck, bollards and the like...

And the Oerlikons and the depth charges.

So here all the stuff installed on the deck - I decided to go for the breakwater from the kit, since it looks really smart.

Lots of small stuff 'out of the way' - sometime I leave those things until the very end and then don't find motivation to do it properly, when it's the last things that have to be done before commissioning...

So the here's Belfast as she will sail into 2016 - all the superstructure dry fitted only, of course.

And with that I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year and maybe some plastic or brass under your Christmas Trees... For me it will rather be saving - my presents will come with some long awaited releases - hopefully - during 2016...

Thank you all for looking and commenting, that is really highly appreciated, and I hope you'll all follow along next year, too

For now,
Cheers

Jan,

Absolutely stunning work. Your Belfast is coming along great. I like the hanger door being opened. Can't wait to see what you do to highlight that area.

I to hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.

Gentlemen,

Many many thanks for your kind comments and motivation!!

My dockyard workers are still on leave, I got some information that one or two are still sobering up from New Year's Eve, but they should return sometime next week.

All the best to everybody, thank you all again for your continuing support and work here shall be resumed in a few days

Cheers,

Jan

Todd,

thank you very much!! Well, workers aren't all back yet, so I had to start something different....

I started with the PomPoms, well remembering Russ' little horror movie, but it had to be done...

So I tried something entirely new (to me) - the BigBlueBoy version of the 8 barrel units.

So this post is merely a preview, start and result, but I will do a lengthy post about them over the next couple days. Those PomPoms are kits for themselves and great ones - I am pretty excited and would say that's the best PomPoms in 1/350 I have seen so far.

They are complex builds and take their time - and it takes time before you understand that it all makes sense But they are really well and smartly engineered. But more about all that later...

Here's the final results (touch ups on the barrels of the lighter grey one not done yet) of the first two units. The dark one was the very first try and I am still considering wether I will install it or not. But that's a different question.

More soon!

For now,

Cheers,

Jan

Wow Jan!

these look even more complex than the Eduard Pom Poms?

You are a brave man sir, setting your dock yard workers to build these-how many are required for Belfast?

Great to see the manufacturing chain is still online even if the docks are closed Jan!! Tidy work on the pianos! Well worth the effort if you ask me!! Carry on!
