One of the advantages of working from home Mate, instead of spending two hours a day travelling, I get some of that time at the bench. (And still have dinner prepped ready for when Mrs Duster gets home)
all I can say is, when you get to the Nel, these are nice kits to build.

I bet having older kids helps too mate?
My littl'uns being 4 and 5 pretty much exclude me from any bench time until they're in bed asleep
The Nelson may well finder herself bumped up a position or two in the proposed build program...

Young Duster being away at University does free up my time, even when he is at home we occasionally have some Father / Son bench time. He is into fantasy figure painting, and better at it than me.
Nice build plan there too.

This week's progress.
The boat chocks fitted.
The lower funnel rigging in place, the front end of the dore funnel was fun, as the searchlight platforms meant the stays were moved.
Thanks to the good drawing in Burt of the Lord Nelson with similar platforms I was able to work it out.
Funnel rigging upper layer on.
The other boats stripped ready for pontos parts.
and fitted out.
The lower section of the Foremast, the derrick was removed when the searchlight platforms were added, the mount being filled.
and cleaned up ready for paint.
With a bit of luck there will be one more update before Christmas.

Despite all the
getting the stuff to fit, it worked out well, I will admit I was close to scrapping the idea and scratchbuilding new cabins more than once.Cheers

The pulling boats painted and ready to go on.
The three big ones in place.
The steam pinnaces an launch ready for fitting.
In place.
Also fitted ate the cradles for the upper pair of smaller pulling boats
The compass platform fitted.
By 1915 another platform had been added below the compass platform, next job will be scratchbuiding that.

Last update of 2018.
Ladder to the compass platform in place. I also noted there were no ladders up to the steering position, so a ladder from the infini models RN ladder fret test fitted.
It fitted, ladders were added on both sides and a section of railing in between.
Platform between the compass platform & steering position, nor sure what you would call it.
In place, in some photos there appears to be a canvas screen totally covering the front and some of the sides, so a frame has been added to take it.
Screen in place and drying, the upper and lower screens have been painted.
The mainmast, with the derrick rigging from the Dreadnought se fitted,
also will be using a top from that set, as the kit tops have room for the topmast.

Will also use dreadnought parts to build the platform below the top.

For sheer ugliness I don't think anything can touch some of those French pre-dreadnoughts, the Agamemnon is sleek and pretty in comparison.

Hi Doug,
French capital ship design was quirky to say the least in this period, and some them just look wrong. The Agamemnon is a powerful, and for her time a modern looking ship, and after her main topmast was removed she did look a lot sleeker.

The gap for the roof for the maintop filled with a chunk of plasticard.
Detail painted and in place.
and camouflaged.
The main armament, Pontos barrels against the kit parts.
One small problem, the axis on the Pontos barrels is slightly wider, I don't know which is correct, as if I remember correctly both Dreadnought and Agamemnon had the same turrets.
Easily solved with a small length of brass rod.
One turret built.
Bridge wings added, and all the dodgers painted.
An overview of the ship as she currently is.
The foretop as provided for the 1909 fit.

Don't know if it's too late for this build Si, but it looks like Master Model do listen to our emails, even if they don't reply as they've released a set for Nelson and her sister here

Good old evergreen plastic strip mate. The foretop roof will also need altering, that is the next job. Then we shall see how close to the photographs it is.
