Hi Gaucho. I'm building King George V, Tamiya 1/700 withWEM photo-etch. Hope to get some more done and post some updated pics this weekend (provided SWMBO doesn't find too many other things to keep me busy with... )

Hi Jeremy,
I agree with Frank, your Bismarck looks great!
Are you using real wood on the deck?
The camouflage is also excellent.

Gaucho,

Check the Campaigns gallery. Looks like Ripster has over 30 photos of his KGV in the underconstruction section. Maybe Ripster can share his photo shooting tips with us too!!

Most of pics of the KGV are in my own gallery, must transfer some across! As for taking the pics, there's no secret to it at all. I use a Fuji Finepix S602 Zoom that I got off eBay (it's quite an old camera relatively speaking but does the job), pop it on a tripod and use the macro or super-macro mode. Lighting is via a desk spotlight with a daylight (i.e. blue tinted) bulb, I don't normally use the flash.

Only problem with this camera is that the macro modes show up all the errors that my eyes have missed!!!

I gotta get me one of those lenses! Hmm, think SWMBO would notice if I snuck it into the house in a model box?

Mark, I didn't get to find the Graham's KGV pics , just one in the campaign gallery.

Well, here we go, the Prince's box is open, too late to return for harbor.
Wow! I like a lot that emotion on to open a box of a kit for the first time.

Hmm...For the first look, I think I'll need help with the colors. Surelly I'll ask for.

PS: What's the meaning of "SWMBO"?

Oh, sorry!

It's kind of common on this site:

She Who Must Be Obeyed

I think it comes from recent (last 50 years) English literature usually used to mean wife, girlfriend or significant other.

The Fuji Finepix S602 actually comes with the zoom lens built in - one of the reasons I went for that particular camera. Takes great shots outdoors too, which is a nice bonus

Full modeling weekend. My wife took the kids shopping on saturday, and they had sledding time sunday.

Dreadnaughts: Finished superstruture subassemblies for the Hein, cleaned up and finished the deck work. Paint arrived from White Ensign friday. Hope to work on it more tonight and tomorrow.

Not much joy here. Most of the weekend was spent out of the house. Did get a quick fix in on the new gun tubs fwd of Nellie's bridge and repaired the rangin view port on the A turret.

Ok. Catch up time. You guys have kept me busy.
I've got the 1/200 USS Monitor from Verlinden. Started cleaning up the parts and test fitting Thursday night. I've got the parts preped and going to start priming this morning, then laying in colors. Photos asap. :-)

Ok. I got the hull and turret on the Monitor painted. I airbrushed a neutral gray on each row of deck plates then took some flat black and airbrushed over the panel line. The whole thing was drybrushed with MM jet exhaust. Tomorrow I'll work on the inside of the turret, add the jack staffs and communication pole.

Well, once the Gallery is back up, and my Silver Team membership activated, I will be able to post some pics on my progress with the ISE.

I have taken a little liberty with details, especially of the fantail(?) and the hanger/flight deck area since little is/was available for info. Lots of scratchbuilding/detailing, the pics will sort this out for you all.

I am just reaching the point of doing block painting of areas and getting hte PE ready to apply.

Who knew ships would be so satisfying and infuriating at the same time? :-)

Hmmm, spoken like a true shipwright mate!

With the site server switchover, Our commander (Jim S>) may not be able to activate your Silver A-Guard for a while, so if you wish, Jacques, you could e-mail me the pics and I'll temporarily host em in my gallery...or you could open up an account over at [email protected] and get free picture hosting over there, and just link the url's to the forum to show off your work...check it out!

I hear you gunny, and appreciate the offer. I already have a MSN account (have been posting pics there for a LONG time) and I joined the silver A-gaurd so I can post larger JPG's since much of what I have done is detail, detail, detail.

I can wait until the gallery is up again...keeps me focused on the model!

(besides, I need all the help I can get working on those doggone 1/700 aircraft. I liked it better as a kid...paint the bad guy airplanes red, good guys blue and away we go... )

So, I'm guessing by this post that you're going to hang in there with us, aye mate?? That's the spirit!! Listen, Jacques, even though you can't put up any recent pics, a good description is just as well for a viable update...keep us posted, and Keep Modeling!

Hi Mark

Just by way of update I have been working away on my Admiral Schree and I have all the major guns completed and I have started the superstructure and hull/deck.

I am really enjoying making my first "warship" but I find the size of the parts a little challenging but overall everything is going well at this end.

Regards

Sorry for my absence, but please, I need a license until the end of April, to finish my Fulcrum and to do my entry for OIF campaign.

thanks

PS: I'll do the same in the flattop campaign.
