Ahoy, mates!
TGIF!!...I live for weekends!~Weatherman is predicting a particularly crappy weekend for the North East U.S., which means mega-modeling time for me!
How about some updates on your Dreadnoughts! Campaign builds? C'mon, talk to me! (and some pics would be nice too!

)

Hi Mark
No updates - only the PE Set for the Arizona arrived.
I have ordered because the original kit had some PE (raillings, and some other bits) but the cranes and catapults were so out of place and thick- so I went and ordered it.
It will make a difference - also looking forward for the weekend

Hi Mark
Just by way of update I am still in and my kit has arrived and I will be starting it this weekend.
I have opened the kit box and reviewed the instructions etc.
A big thank you to Mike your generosity is greatly appreciated and I will be dedicating my build to you my friend. I hope I do it justice for you.

I took a bunch of photos last night, and then realized I don't have any more space to upload them! So I signed up for the subscription which provides the additional space. As soon as that clears and my space allocation goes up, so will the photos!! Hopefully it will not be too long.

Here you go Gunny, have started added the resin pom-poms. Thought I'd got rid of barrel mould seams but obviously not, back to scraping!

Hey, Tom!
You can still upload your pic's directly to the campaign gallery, can't you? Or does the Kitmaker default to storing a copy in your gallery also?? I think that uploading into the campaign gallery is still possible, even if you're out of space. If not, you can use some of my space in my gallery if you want to, Tom. Just let me know.

Gunny, it appears to me that the ability to upload photos is ID dependent. With the current default size of my account, I've got room for exactly one more picture without deleting some of what's already in my account.
Knowing that I'm going to want to upload more than just one photo and not wanting to delete any of what's already up there, I've done the honorable thing and signed up for additional space. I'm not sure how long it takes before that's effective.
If it takes a while and there's a way for me to upload into your account, just let me know and we'll do it that way!
Wait, over!

Tom it shouldn’t take to long.
I recently singed up myself and I think it was the next day I got it.
Mark personally I’m starting to dislike the weatherman. :-)

No joy! I tried to upload just now and I don't have enough space for even one more photo without deleting,
As soon as they activate my membership and increase my storage space I'll upload a bunch!

Hi Tom!
There's only one guy that can start your A-guard membership for more gallery space, and thats our Commander( Jim S.)...don't know how he's feeling but it may be a few days before he can get to your account activation. If you want to you can e-mail me the pic's in a .zip file and I'll upload em, mate! You can find my e-mail addy in my profile. Have you joined up over at the Armorama Annex at MSN? You can put up pic's over there too and then just copy and paste a url link to display them...
Armorama Annex Check it out, Tom!

Did some more work on the Gneisenau this weekend - hoping ot get some more work in tonight.
Construction is moving along, I've been adding the photo-etch parts as I go...here is the forward superstructure with the small PE cranes in place...

Moving aft, I added the PE platforms for the searchlights (later to become platforms for AA guns). These are very nice, and really add something to the model..

Finally here are the main ships cranes, done up in PE (BTW, the PE set if from White Ensign...very nice)

Along with the rest of the construction ahead of me, there is lots of touch up work to do.

Gd' Morning all
During the weekend I have been working on the PE catapults, crane and latice yardarms for the Arizona... it really makes a visible improvement over the model parts.
Pictures tonight or tomorrow
Excellent looking Gneisenau, Martin - looking forward to see it finished
Tom, looking forward to see your progress

Yes she is - woulda helped if I had mentioned that, eh?
Painted the turret tops red last night, test fitted them on the model this morning (just in time for the batteries for the digital camera to die!) - I'm happy with the way they came out, really adds some nice color to the model.

Ok, it is progress. It's just not on the scale and quality of some of the other shots. I've cleaned up the A turret and glued on the guns in salvo position. The B turret has the 40mm and the locker added. The X turret has the molded on 20mm's removed while I build up new tubs. I've also added a few hatches and a couple of 20mm's in front of the A turret.

Mark, don't forget what the reason is as to why you enjoy this hobby that we all share in...it's all about
FUN, Bro, and that's what it should be...there's alot of time left to finish your entry, mate, with the extension and all...and about the quality, shoot, I've been at this for over
30 years now and I'm still learning techniques...you really shouldn't worry about the quality of your work, but just strive to polish up your skills and gain more confidence in what you're trying to achieve.
Keep up the great work and post up your progress as you go! Model on!!!

Gunny,
I'm not too worried, this is my 4th ship since returning to the hobby 18 years ago. Unfortunately the only completed one to date is a 1/700 Trident sub (not nearly the same level of detail). I am pleased with what I have learned about folding teeny tiny extra small PE. I've developed a couple of fixtures to hold the gun barrels while the glue sets (see the 6" turret on the bottle cap) and the 'salvo' position of the 16" guns. So that's all fine. By the way did I mention how small the PE is? THe 20mm's hardly even show up on the fore deck.

I'm more intimidated by the quality of the photo work in the posts before mine, even if my work was anywhere near that good, you'll never see it with my camera and photo skills.
I'm still having fun, I'm learning new stuff so it's all good. Even bending that teeny tiny PE is a welcome diversion from the stress in my life.
Mark
