Looks like I'm sailing towards a reef with my Nelson. From another thread, it appears that I need to paint the main deck as 'unpainted' wood. I hope I can handle an airbrush well enough to spay the wood color onto the deck before I assemble any other decks or turrents and not get it everywhere else. My "reef" is how do I mask off the deck to keep the grey paint off of the wood? Any good hints, articles?

Mark what I would do to mask off the deck is to use tape paper (find a glossy paper that doesn’t let the paint soak into it.) down over most of the deck. Just make sure you put masking tape on every edge of the paper so no paint goes under it.
Then around the edges where its harder to tape off cover with sticky tack (blue tack, handy tack, ex.) (You may want to test it in a scrap piece firsts. Some brands can stain the certain paints)
Just use a thine piece and push it down on the deck and then gently push the edges up to what you want painted.

I hope this can be of some help to you.

The ships are all coming along nicely guys. Keep up the good work.

I'm actually making pretty good progress on my 1/350 Tamiya Missouri. I finished up both the forward tower and aft stack and shot some photos. I'm having a problem with the color/lighting on the shots, a few are coming out great, but most of them are a bit darker and yellower. I'm not sure what the problem is, as I'm using my studio photo floodlights, and there's plenty of light. Somehow the camera isn't opening up to the same settings I guess.

But a bigger problem is that in addition to the forum page behaving differently since the server change (no data on posts), the gallery is still not available for some reason.

As soon as everything is working again, I'll post my inprogress shots.

Hey, Tom!
Unfortunately, we all must be patient with the server change over...but, there IS light at the end of the tunnel, mate, and Armorama will be better off overall for the minor inconveniences...just keep up the discussions until we can post more pics, folks, we'll get through the fog just fine!

Making slow but steady progress with my 1/700 King George V. All turrets now complete and have just finished the PE cranes, which look very nice, if I do say so myself!

Waiting for the 8-barrel pom-poms to turn up from WEM, and am putting off for as long as possible building the rest of the 20mm guns...

Hi Graham!

Sounds good, mate!
I myself am still limping through the 1/700 PE on my entry, going to need the entire campaign duration for this one! PHEW!, it's been a while since I had to fiddle with PE parts this small...it's all good, though, I'm having fun with it!

I've made some more progress. I even have pictures.

Just can't figure out where to post them. THe usual Gallery with the Campaign folders has disappeared. If there's a trick, I'd sure appreciate it. Seems like every time I figure out how to do this it changes.

Thanks Gunny. I was kind of hoping someone would ask what a 'Shagbat' is, but clearly you all know more about the Fleet Air Arm than I thought!

My build is still in early drydock. Just started my very last class for my BA this past Monday. Will be totally done by mid April. Somehow, I have to figure out how to get my IJN Haruna completed by then also....

Edit: Just noticed this post got me promoted!

Sir, Reporting Progress, Sir!

All right so no one ever heard a pirate say sir.

I managed to not only make some progress, but get it photographed and uploaded. Now if I only had time to figure out how to imbed the photos in this post.

Ah well, look for Nelson_*_60321 on the In Progress page.

Thanks for the report, Mark!
I'd love to see your progress but the gallery is down at the moment.
As far as posting your pics in the forum, it's very easy mate...I have two windows both signed on to Armorama at all times, so make your post in one window, go to the gallery in the other window, pull up the picture you want to share, and on the bottom of the photo you will see the url address and a button that says something like "copy to post in forums". Click on the button, go back to your post in the other window, and paste it into your post...finish your post, hit submit, and you should have your pic in your post...sounds a little confusing, but after a couple tries it's quite easy...hope this helps ya out, mate.

I was already late for work when I posted. Now that I'm at work, I've got time to post. (hehehehe)

I scratched a set of gun tubs for the 20mm's in front of the bridge, added splinter shields for the boat deck 20mm's and added a few lockers to the top of the B turret.

Also got 2 of the 6" turrets built up. Any hints on how exactly to use white glue for the blast bags on the 6" and 15" guns is appreciated.

Hi Mark!

I see that you have the pic/post thing worked out mate!
And the "Armorama at the Office"...Luckily, my job has me in front of a PC all day, and guess what?? (shhh...me too!)
Progress looks good, Mark...Thanks for the update!

My Gneisenau build is on hold while I tackle two 1/350 commissions. The first is the ISW HMS Invincible (the battlecruiser), the second is the ship that gave her name to this campaign: Rhino Models HMS Dreadnought.

Work has been slow while I filled in all the pin holes on the resin hull, added the props, shafts and struts and then the torpedo net shelf. The hull has been primed and is ready for painting. Over the weekend I drilled out the turret faces to fit the brass barrels (which are from Steve Nuttal).

Here are 4 of the 5 turrets with the brass barrels installed:

Here is are three turrets dry-fitted to the hull. Note the torpedo net shelf:

Once Dreadnought and Invincible are complete and delivered to the customer, I'll start working on the Gneisenau again...

Hi Martin

You have a good excuse - the same as myself, with the exception mine is a Built Review
Looking good so far!
Please keep us updated - it will be fun to see another Dreadnought (this one in 1/350)!

Thank you for sharing

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been posting. Everything is crazy around here. Between work, Gator's and family, the work bench has been neglected. It thinks I died. But good news is I'll be back at it this weekend! I'm making some samples for the next contest where I'll be a vendor. I've got the F-14A Ferris camo scheme and I'll be attempting it. I'll work in the Monitor while paint or glue dries on the Tomcat.
