Hi Mark

Update Admiral Schee

Sorry for no recent updates however I found the non availability of this site and then the non availability of the photo gallery for such an extended period very disappointing and frustrating especially as I do server rebuilds and data swaps etc day in day out as part of my job. I just could not work out what the real issue/s/delays are/were.

Anyhow the site is functioning ambit without out all its previous functionality and features.

I had for a brief period been looking for inspiration away from this site.

However I am back.

I have been working away on the Admitral Schee however I have lost focus in the last week or so but the hull is sorted the decks as is one superstructure and the guns etc so I am progressing. Back on track this weekend/week.

Regards

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been posting. Everything is crazy around here. Between work, Gator's and family, the work bench has been neglected. It thinks I died. But good news is I'll be back at it this weekend! I'm making some samples for the next contest where I'll be a vendor. I've got the F-14A Ferris camo scheme and I'll be attempting it. I'll work in the Monitor while paint or glue dries on the Tomcat.

Kenny

Hi Kenny!
I'm glad that Gator's is going well for you, mate! And I'm also happy to hear that you'll be able to get back to the bench a while this weekend...shoot us an update when you can, my friend!

Hello, Sean!

As far as the server switchover issues, mate, you'd have to talk to Jim S. about those, my friend, I couldn't even imagine the amount of things that could go wrong...I ran my own site a short while back and there were daily SNAFU's that would drive me nuts, nothing on a scale as large as Armorama!!

Anyways, the site is coming together again quickly here and all should be business as usual again (but with added benefits!), and I'm glad to here that you'll be back on track with your build soon. Keep me posted mate, and keep modeling!

If you glue on 4 brass ladders, tear them off cause they're in the wrong place and put on 4 new ones, does that count as progress????????

Hi Mark

Yes I can say it counts as a progress, since you were able to find out the proper location!
Studying the instructions, and identifying all the parts is one of my most time consuming tasks - but then it's me. Others have another way of making their models.
And mistakes happen - so don't get so upset about it!
As I said, you noticed that you misplaced them, and that is good (even if you have spent four inclined PE ladders).

Keep calm - it's not the end of the world

Mark, please forgive me mate, but I'm not laughing at ya', but with ya' Bro! :-) Been there before (just last weekend!) But like Rui said, at least you caught the mistake and fixed it before it was too late...
Whenever I screw up I always think of something a wise old cracker once told me, "if you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing any work"...makes sense to me, how about you? Just keep modeling, mate!

Hi Mark

Update Admiral Schee

As promised I got a few hours in on the project yesterday made some good progress except I lost one of the tiny superstructure gun batteries. I certainly take my hat of to you guys who work in this scale all the time. I have scratchbuilt a replacement for the lost part it will look ok from a distance I think/hope.

Currently working on funnel and deck superstructure.

Aiming to keep momentum going this week by plugging away each day.

Mark I ain't sweating big time and or ladyin over the site and server upgrades it seems to almost have resolved itself just a slightly frustrating extended period thats all.

Regards

Very Good, Sean!

Do you have a digital camera, mate? If so, how about a few pics of your build so far?
Keep up the good work and thanks for the update!

Considering the number of mistakes I'm making, I'm the hardest working guy around here. :-)

The Nelson will go down as a learing experience. If it looks any better than that, a miracle will have happened.
If I finish her, she will be:
My 1st British warship.
My 1st surface combatant in 30 years (I finished a sub in 03).
The largest amount of scratch building I've ever done on a model.
The most amount of PE I've ever purchased and used on a model.

Mark,
I can speak for myself and for the rest of the crew here at Warships, and the Dreadnoughts! Campaign especially, and say we're behind ya' 100% mate, and we're right in there with ya'....remember, you got a heck of a support staff here, my friend, so don't be afraid to ask!

Thanks guys, I'm trying. I'll ask some questions in another thread.

Here are some in-progress shots:

Full hull with 'droopy' B turret, the barrel fell off after this shot.

Forward superstructure with 2 of the offending ladders in nearly the right place.

Hi Mark!

Thanks for the pics, mate, and the update!

Remember, it's only a model, man! Like you said, no matter what happens, you have had a definite learning experience with your entry, and hopefully through the hard times squeezed in some fun too! Keep me posted, Mark, and keep modeling!

Hi Mark

Further Update Admiral Schee

Worked away every day this week good progress being made.

I can confirm momentum picked up again.

Working on superstructures etc I have had some real problems with the smallness of the parts etc and ejector pin marks etc but still having real fun.

I hope to get some pictures over the weekend to post early next week.

Over and out

Radio silence until next agreed checkpoint.

Mark,

Sorry, but I won't be making any progress for the next week or so. I've got a week long TDY to Korea. Gonna be hard to carry all my stuff over there and try to get some work done.

See ya later!

Hi Mark

I love this new forum format.

My first post here.

Steaming away on progress.

I did not get a camera in the weekend but I am on the definite homestraight I should have construction finished this week then its painting.

I will get pictures done prior to painting.

I put all the subassemblies together and the kit looks good I am pleased ths far overall.

But boy I respect those that model in 1/700 all the time I find the small parts a real challenge.

I think I will stick to 1/350 and 1/72 Ships Subs for the immdiate future.

Hi Sean

Welcome to Modelshipwrights

If you allow me for a comment on your built:
Now that you have experienced a 1/700 warship every model that you'll built in a bigger scale will look massive! Trust me, I experienced that!

Last week I was cleaning some old boxes and found a "huge" PE Set - meant for Revell's 1/220 USS Lionfish sub, by Nautilus Models

I looked at it and thought - These stairs are SO BIG!
Of course when I was building it, I just have come from a long period making 1/35 submarines (mainly midget) and I thought "these PE parts are so small!!!!"

So it is all a question of scale - and you'll see that you will work better on your next project

Back to topic: I am looking forward to see your HMS Nelson

Hi Frank!

To answer your question, mate, you must upload your FINISHED photo's in the proper campaign gallery first (because that's where I'll be looking when it's time to hand out the ribbons!) and then you're MORE than welcome to share them with us in this forum!

Hi guys,

as you probably have noticed, I have been missing in action for a while. The simple explanation is studies. Though strictly speaking I could not join (I started to build the King George V pre-1944 fit too early), I was hoping to keep up with you.

Before the summer I applied for enrollment in an exchangeprogram with the University of Hawaii. The idea was to try and study for my Bachelors thesis in history under one of the experts on the late Roman army in the spring semester, and write the paper there.

My plan succeeded, I got in. There were a few setbacks though. First of all I spent loads of time running back and forth to get the paperwork done. Second, I had to move my fall semester finals forward (as by the time they would roll around I would have to be here in Honolulu) by a month. Also, for the paper I had to write in the fall I had to spend much time elsewhere.

So basically since the start of the fall semester no decent modelling could get done. At least not in a way that would make me happy with the results, with the limited skills I have. Right now all my kits are stashed away in a closet. And the way things are now I have to wait until at least this summer (late June) before I will get any modelling time, though probably most of my time will be spent studying (if I want to get my Bachelors by September and start my Masters then), writing two papers. Though right now postponing graduation and staying here for an additional semester is very appealing, and at least to me a serious consideration. If that happens, I will not be modelling untill at least Christmas.

So just to let you know that I have not fallen of the face of the earth. And that I still think of you guys...

Hello, Mate!

Good to hear from ye' again, and I do believe that you're on the right track with your education, my man, although it is cutting in on your love of plastic. You'll have alot of time later after you get a good education, and a job to match (professor, I presume? ). Thanks for touching base, mate, and good luck with your studies!
