This topic/forum is a great idea! I just purchased the Tamiya 1/350 Fletcher class destroyer, ( photos to follow) along with the PE set from Toms. The kit is great, very clean, with sharp details throughout. I've also posted on another forum for building advice, as I'm a returning newbee. This kit should build up well, and is impressive out of the box.

This is my first foray into shipbuilding. I already have Trumpeter's Hood, but haven't been brave enough to build it, so I bought this, I haven't opened it yet; I know it comes with all PE and real wooden deck. I didn't know it was a real "limited edition", thought that was some marketing ploy.

Brett,

That looks like a nice kit. I had seem the contents of it posted on a Korean site. I did not realize it was a limited run. Enjoy the project!

Pit Road is publishing quite a few nice 1/350 scale small IJN models. Apart from the already mentioned Ukuru type escorts, I've bought the Yugumo DD and the Hei type escorts so far. Nice little additions to the big ships of the fleet.

Hey my first ship kit of the year. Got one of those AFV I-58. That bugger is almost as big as a freakin' destroyer. Also got the 35th scale version of that Citroen staff car. Got both on ebay for $12 each. Of course shipping ws high, but still both retailed for 10 more than I paid including the shipping.

Well,

here is my haul for the past couple of months (which was admittedly a bit over the top - also spent quite a bit on flashy wingy-thingies...

Cruisers and the USS England.

I hope to get a start on the USS San Fransisco and the USS England this weekend.

The DKM Hipper is for the cruisin' and bruisin' campaign, assuming I get some other models done first. Hope the WEM Prinz Eugen PE set will work for this one as well.

Bismarck and Lion Roar set... this is for a later date.

Cheers,

Harm

Thanks Jan. It's great to have them but doing them justice in the build is another story. Here"s hoping that I can do a good job on them....Cheers Mark

Is this a new Voyager set? The old set for I-400 was quite a disappointment, it contains the same parts as the kit supplied Tamiya PE for some (the propeller is a correction so I guess that's OK) parts and the only meaningful part was the 25mm triple AA. In comparsion the Eduard set is much more comprehensive.

Anyhow I recently accquired HMS Ark Royal from HP models, a bunch of MARU special books and a bunch of of Pitroad auxilary vessels (the MARU books are about the same subjects, mostly tenders, oilers and aux vessels). Plenty of things to look forward to!
