It is a model kit, in my 2nd to last post, all parts needed to build what is on the box, all plastic, how old is your grandson, and how many models has he built? that would give an idea of what would be good for him.

A nice little surprise on my birthday sunday was Revells recent re-issue of Matchbox's 1/700 HMS Tiger from my girlfriend. No pics yet but I will post some if everyone wants a looksy. All I can say is its a nice little kit and its going together quite well so far. It would benefit from a set of PE (WEM are you reading this?) but I'm building it OOB as I don't want it sat around unbuilt for too long as she might think I'm ungrateful.

OK no kits but some ref / reading matter in the hope that we get the 1/35 or even a 1/72 Fairmile D 'Dog boat'

Coastal craft are working on at least one dog on 1/72nd in resin, and from talking to the guys there several, in both MTB & MGB fits.

Now, I don't really think these washed up with the tide as the nearest water is a little creek down the back yard, but hereis what the lovely parcel lady and postman have bought in the last few days..

Orange Hobby detail set for the Z-39 (two of these)(I am going to try them on the Z-31 and Z-38 as well. They are very cheap for what you get, Barrels for all guns on the ship, PE railings etc and resin parts as well for under $30!!)
Eduard Railing set for the HMS Repulse
BigEd for the DKM Admiral Hipper
and
a Brass Barrel set for the Borodino
All 1/350 scale.
The other thing that arrived was a set of PE from WEM. I contacted them and explained that there were not enough skylight covers for the Markgraf, then, even though it is not spicified to be for the Markgraf they sent me a complete new set just so I could have enough covers!! Best service around!!
So it is three cheers for White Ensign Models. You can feel safe dealing with this proud British company.

1/350 PE Set for the IJN Takao (I will be using it on the Chokai)
1/350 Railing set for the Aoshima IJN Kongo. The Flyhawk set for the Kongo came with generic railings, but I like fitted ones much better.
Both of these sets are hard to find and I was lucky to get them,

Simon, I'll keep a look out for these, I have thought about getting the WEM 1/350 dog boats but I'd like the 1/72 better but a 1/35 best. Here's hoping Italeri have one up their sleeve.

While I wait for a 1/72 Dog boat and prey for a 1/35 one I thought I'd make do with these little ones.


I've ordered some crew but WEM are out of stock.

Are you going to do a build blog for one of these Luciano? I for one would be very interested.

I can do Warren, but it may be sometime before I get around to it as I'm in the middle of a large dio build here on Automodeler.

I do intend to build all three together in a small dio, but now I have got to the chapter in the book I brought several post ago on the Dog boats in the Med working with RON 15 I may have to add one of those into it.

I am very patient Luciano. One has to be when one uses lots of photo-etch...

I've had a look but as far as I can see no one does a Higgins boat in 1/350 (thats what RON 15 used)
Anyway it looks like there are no reviews for these little boats so I'll try a side-by-side review after all they have been out some years now.

Bought my first ship model!
Battle fleet models 1/700 C2 Troop Transport and the correct Toms PE kits for it.
My grandfather was a USCG Radioman/Signalman on the S.S. Santa Isabel during WW2.

I have to finish off my P-38 that Im doing now, then I have a 1/32 A-4 Im doing.
After that I'll go to the other end of the scale spectrum and do the 1/700 scale ship.
Kit is slated to arrive saturday along with all the P.E. I got for it.

OK I've gone and done it, went to a show today and this followed me home.

Something about the small ships/subs in 1/35! This found it's way home with me from a show at the weekend.

Just in from today's post: my trio of Trumpy 1:350 HMS Eskimo RN destroyers!

The hull is molded in one piece, as are the bridge and deck houses. These should be straightforward builds.

A bit different, but definitely marine related, finally got my hands on a U Models Biber trailer. The plan is to sit it, along with the Biber, on the Italeri dock.
