There are lots of detail hidden in my 1/32 aircraft that is for sure. I didn't say not to do it, just that it is beyond me.

Yes, familiar problem Warren. Good review on the Revell German Navy Lynx by the way. I bought that little gem too,( should have waited a bit though because then I could have bought the Royal Navy version). Still a nice kit though even if the pimped version is a bit too flashy for my tastes.
Cheers,
Julian

Detailing INSIDE funnels?! Sorry but that is way beyond me!

Not me - I have been looking at this particular issue, the case is, that even if you paint the interior for the funnel black, it will still look empty due to its size ... that annoys me a lot ...

According to drawings, theres 5 major tubes running trough the funnel ? - theres so far no pictures to support this, but i think i will make some kind of plug with 5 tubes and some "gizmoes" around them.

While I do like the kit, theres a lot of issues that really bothers me - having spent 210€ + 20€ on it i would like it to look better than the out of the boxbuild.

Major concerns are;
Boats - thy look like something from the 1:700 world .... 25 years ago ...
Porthole covers - flat and void of detail - why, they are almost 2 mm i diameter so really visible and theres lots of them
other molded on details like life rings etc. lacks finesse
etc.

An while this may single wise be minor concerns - they are still adding up on the detail side and will stand out on the finished model.

I think I´m going to mothball it for a month or two - to calm down and see what updates theres coming.

Maybe finish the hull and deck...

Cheers/Jan

Hi Jan,
you sound a bit disenchanted with the "Big B". I agree with you that a lot of detail is missing here. Think Trumpeter got caught in the "production time vs. detailing vs. sales price" dilemma. I am rather surprised that the after market boys are taking their time on this one; the model was released about 2 months ago so I would have expected more PE sets to be circulating by now.
Cheers,
Julian

@ Jan
I think they had to tone the detail down a little Jan as the price would have been way too high if they had gone all out. Many people don't want the extra detail, just the large Bismarck. I will be ordering a detail set to rectify these problems..

@ Julian
Thanks mate. Just do the plain version. I like the pimp-my-ride version and will do that one. The Army Lynx will be good. I am sure they have it in the pipeline.

Cheers all

I trust everyone knows of Thomas Schmids fine 3D work ?
If not, there is lots here for the serious detail freak to ponder.

Hello friends, I cannot speak since even I do not have my bismarck in house but what eh dress of the work of Juan and Julian it does not seem to me for anything poorly!!! Clear this one who always can join details but it is a personal option of up to where one does not enter the sicocis.
The good thing is to find the balance ..... I have set of PE that really me extract the desires of starting !!! are will a headache!!!! Boys not forgetting that this is a hobby where the quality and the ecxelencia not always happens for having the PE's best set. Always I say that.......... the good greyhounds are seen in the track!!!! To bark... they all bark.
My humble opinion.

Update January 16:
Just some progress photos from last weekend. Nothing happening at the moment, I have the flu and I managed to dodge Mrs. Gremlin56's attention for a moment to post this. Will probably get kicked back to bed when she spots me

Hope you get better soon Julian. It is summer here and flu is the least of our worries,
Two questions,
1. Are the searchlights glued in position yet and
2. Have you filled all the seams you are intending to fill yet?
Hope Mrs Sallows isn't too violently against you being out of bed. You get better faster if you do something other than lie in bed feeling sorry for yourself.
Best wishes

Wooow friend the only thing that is absent is that saga black smoke!! Uffff if this way build "gripe" or flu better when ........ uuufff Here a "pirate remedy" goes red wine, to warm to bain-marie in warm water, to add honey or sugar, cinnamon, nail of smell, a white of egg of egg beaten .y re-turns all this potion. You cover the head with a towel of bath and take a cup of warm this ........ when you could get up get into the bed sheltered well. You are going to perspire very much!! And tomorrow will another person ..... really it works
Or you will sleep as little angel jajajjaja

Hello Julian, great progress, hope you're feeling better real soon. Kinda got a kick out of this photo, pictured 'Evil von Knievel' trying to jump his kettenkraftrad over the 'Big B'. Al

Hi Daniel,
I have been giving myself hot grog's to decimate the virus.
Your recipe sounds good, will have to try that before I feel better
