Thanks Jan,
I am finding a pleasure to work with, it is my second build with a Pontos set, and the instructions, whilst not perfect are a big improvement over the Dreadnought's.

Everyone's builds are looking good!
Welcome back Warren! Good to see you'll be back on the slipways soon! Hopefully the city of churches is being good to you!
Keith, welcome back! Hopefully you had a good holiday! Looking forward to see your choice of build!
Si, as always a cracking pace. I reckon you'll be finished by Christmas! Those boats look good! A vast improvement over the kit parts... If ever a kit could use an update from Tamiya, the KGV/POW are it...

Have bought a house already and will be moving in at the end of this month... well moving the caravan there anyway and then going to Bathurst for my annual junk-food-binge (Bathurst 1000). Then when we get back from Bathurst everything will be being packed and moved to Adelaide.. so probably not in fully until the end of next month!

Cheers mate

Hi Russell,
I reckon it will be late Feb / Early March finish. still lots to do, haven't started on the Pom Poms, Walrus , masts directors yet, let alone finished the boats, Bridge etc.
Lots to do, lots of small stuff left on the frets still to beused.

My 1/500 Kingfishers from Shapeways for my Revell New Jersey.
Overall, I'm very pleased with them. Cant wait to see how the look on the photoetched catapult.
Hi Michael, the king fishers look great. Did you have to supply the printer with a 3d model or did they do that for you?

Shapeways already had a 1/650 set available and I asked them if it was possible to scale the planes down to 1/500. They said it would be relatively easy to do and request to delivery took about two weeks.

I finally got some more work done. I have the lower hull painted and I ahve been assembling the superstructure getting it ready for painting. All the portholes have been drilled out. I want to get the major structures painted before starting the detail work and painting the decks.

hey all,
from the updates everyone is doing awesome work. I am impressed and excited to be learning from ya'll.
Not much of an update this week. I am done with all of the major assembly so I am doing all the minute details at this point. The IJN Musashi Air Armada has finally arrived and is installed.

The crane is a little damaged. I dropped it and grabbed the top which resulted in bending the upper frame and little ladders. Figured it gave a little character to the monster.
Also I got all the parts and pieces for the display case. Now to stain the wood and put it together.

The plexi glass still has the protective film. Once I finish sanding and staining the wood I will begin building it. Once that is done I will work the ocean scene. My first.
I plan on using heavy acrylic gel and medium acrylic gel. I tested it with mixing acrylic paint into the gel and it works pretty good. Nice firm surface which took the white cap highlighting well.
I have determined I don't like using Styrofoam for the base though so I am going to be searching for something different. The Styrofoam makes too much of a mess. Any suggestions?
Si, your rescue boats are looking incredible. As always I am astounded by your PE work.
Hope every ones build is going smoothly. I am scheduled to have surgery next week which will give me a month home from work so I will definitely get the Musashi done and begin on my next campaign. Hopefully I can move through that smoothly and finish just in time for the Leyte Gulf Campaign.
ya'll take care.
Dave
