Plans not firm yet but I am planning to do a water display of some sort. I've never done on before but would like to try it. A couple of scenarios are bouncing around. One is some sort of action scene. The other is a rescue scene where the boat is extracting shipwrecked sailors or a downed airman from the water just as the boat is surprised by an attack from the air.
I have 19 different PT-boat crewmen plus 4 to 8 other suitable figures in plactic, resin and white metal so I need to work out the specifics at some point. Right now the boat is taking all my free time.

The Mk 13 Torpedoes in the WEM kits are somewhat undersized and they are looking into it. In the mean time I did a 3D design of one and an looking at having it 3D printed to use as a master to cast more.

I also need to get with Gator to see if he can make paint mask numbers for me in the size and style needed for the 169 boat.

Tonight I worked more on the cockpit wave deflector and opened up the deck vents. There are more photos at the same link as my previous posts.

Thanks. Here are more photos of tonights efforts. The earlier link will connect to larger versions in my build-album.
This is the inspiration:

I've added some of the 23 deadlights and the vents to the cabin.

I discovered that the location of theday cabin hatch in the kit was wrong so I had to put a plug in it after I had glued the day cabin roof in place. luckily the hatch covers most of it. I have to fit the hatch but it is white glued in place for the photos. I also finished adding the deadlights and fit a support for the SO radar. I posted 4 photos in the album. Here is one:

I had a little time so I made the bullnose and added a photo of it.

I just ran through the whole post and I must say there are some nice looking boats being built out there. I have a couple Airfix kits coming that will fit right in. I am just not sure if I will have time to build one or not. I’m not sure my wallet will take much more of the AM detail attack it’s been under as of late.

Very nice! I am wondering if I can use wine foil as "cheap" PE to dress up my PT boat a bit... thanks for posting and sharing your build info! Saving this thread for reference, thanks!

Having built the 1/35 kit and now working on the 1/72 i can say the 1/35 is a LOT less work and was actually cheaper by the time I add everything I need to buy for the 1/72 boat.

I made one of the racks to see what it looked like. Glad I have extras.

Hi
I used a lot of old takeaway foil tray's on my build, washed well in soapy water then flattened out cut with a very shape blade it works well.

Ahoy

The Airfix kit comes with some hull stands which I wanted to use during construction so I lined them with some Tamiya masking tape to rest the painted lower hull upon.

Really nice work Ed, thanks again for posting...

quick question, I see a strip of styrene just under the hull lip... was that done to "flush" the hull/deck? I am building the Revell PT109, just OOB and nothing else, Im a newbie but had a major issue of hull/deck fitting... thanks! James

Nice work, Giovanni. Coming along nicely.

One question. What color green are you using on the hull and decking? I see OD and Black. Could be my monitor, but that green looks a little too bright.
