Good info on the AFV subs (have couple in the stash, you find them dirt cheap at Lucky Model).

JT - nice job on the sub! good WIP Sorry dont have any PE railing solutions to offer..

Last evening I was going to have a try with the 0,4mm plastic string as rigging. I thought I would just fix a few strings and see how difficult it was. However, within a couple of hours the entire Swordfish was rigged. (!)

I used Gator glue to fix it in place. I think I need to add a tiny drop of thinned gator glue to each joint and then later fix the paint work. Both where the rigging has been added, but also on some of the wing leading edges.

Then I will weather the aircraft, but weathering will be kept very light.

I would still like to try other types of rigging as this rigging is way overscale. I doubt the real rigging was almost 3 cm thick The tips from Guido will still be tried on other builds in the future.

Hi, Jesper!
Looking good! The yarn went into the mail only today, anyway.
Hope to see more of your work here in MSW!

ARGH!! Thank you, Guido! I'm re-investigating how to post into a forum right now. Oy!! I'm determined to learn how to do this without the excess "drama"! Like I posted on Modelwarships about my Missouri travails, I'm STUBBORN !!!

I'm quite impressed with all the great builds that are going on in this campaign! Guido, amazing (as usual!). I also love seeing the Swordfish, Skipjack, Wakatake, PT Boat, and I-58 builds! You guys are awesome!

For my part, the Akula is coming along. I've been swamped with "life", but have managed to get back on track (a bit). I'm planning on setting her in an "emergency blow" type of seascape (thanks for the inspiration and encouragement Guido!). She's been primed and the first coat of black is drying.

Thanks for the comment, Guido.

I appreciate you sending me the rigging materials anyway. I will make it to good use in the future - perhaps for submarines or other biplanes. After having read all the U-boot in Focus magazines I am really picking up interst in this field.

Daniel, interesting diorama idea. A cool way to show of more of the submarine and still have it in its "natural environment".
Looking forward to see more - the water will be a challenge to get right, but I am sure you will pull it of great.

Now I have finished my entry for this campaign. The Matchbox 1/72 Swordfish. An old 1980'ties kit. However, the fit was very good despite the lack of details in the kit. An oldie but a goodie

This was my first attempt at complicated rigging. I am very satisfied with the result and think it adds another dimension to the build. I have previous always tried to avoid the rigging as time consuming and the risk of ruining the model.
This campaign and build was a perfect excuse to take up the challenge of rigging. Thanks for all the encouragement, fellow modellers

Overall I am very satisfied with the model, although it is not perfect. I feel like I have made a silk purse of a sow's ear.

Thanks for all the help, Guido. I will try the rigging materials on my next rigging model.

Comments and constructive critisism welcome

Looks great Jesper, maybe a bit more weathering considering the abuse and harsh environment these planes saw.

Thanks for the comments on my Swordfish, guys. I appreciate it.

Jan, I also considered more weathering, but kept it to a little engine exhaust on the cowling. I am unsure how to do it for aircraft spending time at sea? Any suggestions?
It seems the swordfish at sea were kept quite well maintained on the aircraft carriers. Even some of the pure white examples seem surprisingly white and clean.

I like it, too!
A bit of pastel weathering should give a bit more depth and you may want to consider replacing the barel of the 3,7cm gun aft: It does look a bit oversize, like a 3" IHMO.
Cheers, Guido

Appreciate the comments! to be frank, i originally intend for it to be a more detailed build, at one point i even had a sea-scape in mind! however, as always, real life intervene... this project has been sitting around for months! hence the relatively simple build, so that i can at least submit it for the campaign!

Cheers

Very nice build, Lawrence. Real life has the habit of interfering with even the best laid diorama plans.

Thanks for sharing
