Update on my 1/350 Oberon Class submarine. Fin prepped by filling/sanding the battery ventilation overboard (which was not used by 2nd and 3rd generation Oberons) and filling/sanding some very minor defects in the molding. Fin glued to casing, shaft lines and after planes added along with rudder. All that remains is to add the foreplanes and various masts along with the paint job and the PE screws. This kit (Resin Shipyard) is very well done and captures the look and essence of the Oberon class very well.

Nice work, man!
I like the subtitle of your model a lot:
"Drugs - Part of your day"
Cheers,
Guido

Gentlemen-
Thank you for your continued support of the campaign. With 11k clicks within a 6 months period the campaign is a lot more successful than I thought it would be. It's all thanks to you, so please keep it coming!
There are 10 days left to submit your contribution. Some of you have not yet posted your pic in the gallery. Please do so to claim your ribbon.
Add your campaign pic here!
I'll contact Mark accordingly, if I get a minimum 9 requests for an extension of the deadline.
Cheers,
Guido

Schatton Model-bau G7 Torpedo
The PLA sub looks like its going to be a rush to the finish line?
As is the torpedo....
I'm off to the frozen North, for a week so I don't think this is going to be finished on time
Given that this is the starting point

This is where I am going and how far I have got

I guess you get the gist
Now lets not argue about torpedo colours, part of my reason for this build was to try out some Alclad 2 colours, and the main body of the beastie is Alclad gunmetal, I having read that that should be the main colour, then I have seen the head variously painted and the rear part variously plain metal and painted grey etc etc so I guess, its really a matter of opinion and end use. What I really wanted to do was polish it and laquer it but then it would be an ornament not a model.
So there is work to be done but not on time......
What does strike me is that the torpedo itself is HUGE
Cheers

Lap Man- Looking good! Now some paint...
Keith- I am willing to make an exception for you, as your project is clearly exceptional and I am frankly speaking baffled by the progress you have made within such a short time. Do you think that another month will be OK for you?
Adam- Nice one! I hope your get them on a little display for us within time. There is a original G7 torpedo sitting in Maritime Museum in Hamburg: Actually they are even bigger than you would imagine even after seing your little setup.
Cheers,
Guido

Hi Guido!
My contribution will be going before the lens tonight and I'll send the snaps to Mark as a feature. I know this is cumbersome, but I am having problems getting forum picture uploads to post consistently. I hope you like the result.

Great to hear it's coming on. If there's problem with the upload. Send the pic to me via email (guido.hopp(at)gmail.com), I'll post it for you, as I did for other participants already!
I am looking forward to your contribution a lot!

Hi Guys,
I just released the Big Fish campaign doesn't end until next April but I've finished my Biber now! - I suppose that will give the build time to morph into something else. In the mean time I can still come in on the tail end of this one.
So here's the kit.

Do I qualify?
Thanks

Al, of course you do! That's a very nice model you have there. Never imagined the Biber would be THAT small...

I have finally finished. The parts of this kit required more work than I felt necessary to make them presentable, but it wasn't difficult to knife them into shape.

Oh boy!
Now I get the idea, why so many have problems posting pics by hotlink from the gallery. Anyway, there are old tricks for old dogs, too!
Here are but a couple of pics of CaptSonghouse aka Karl Zingheim's USS Tirante:

Once again, the fickle fingers of fate will not allow me to post anything to the gallery, so I'll have to post from Photobucket.
Pictured is my finished entry for this campaign, HMCS ONONDAGA, a Canadian Oberon Class submarine as she was when I joined her crew in 1992. This boat has a special connection for me as she was my first assignment following training and my father had served in her before me as a member of her original commissioning crew. In fact, at the tender age of six, I watched her slide down the ways in HM Chatham Dockyard. Some 34 years later I stood with my father teary eyed on the Halifax waterfront as she sailed past on her way to decommissioning.
I used the Resin Shipyard 1/350 HMCS OJIBWA for this build. There was only one area where some slight modification was needed. OJIBWA was a first-generation Oberon and had a battery ventilation hatch on the fin, port side aft. ONONDAGA (and her sister, OKANAGAN), were so-called Super O's and did not have this fitting. A little putty and sanding took care of that. One other issue with the fin was a molded in ladder starboard side forward leading from the casing to the bridge. This was never a feature of the Oberon fin, so a little filling was also required to take care of that. Other than those two changes, the kit was built out of the box. Resin shipyard has produced a first rate kit of an extraordinary submarine - now to wait for a hoped for release of a VICTORIA class (UPHOLDER) which replaced the Oberons in Canadian service (again a personal connection as I was a member of HMCS VICTORIA's initial crew).
