Jan your progress is fast and looking great how about the sub on the dockside and the torpedos getting ready to be off loaded from the flatbed in a sling of some sort.
Guido as always your work is of the highest quality and a joy to watch.
Hopefully will be able to get some progress done this weekend as I,am off work for a couple of days

Very interesting choice, Jan. I also wanted this kit and then mixing it in with a tank. Finally some boats in 1/35 scale in addition to the Italeri torpedo boats.

So what's your problem with the kit, Sal?
Speak up!
Guido
Well besides what was previously stated with the kit some pieces don't fit together to well I am missing a deck vent, must have been 1 of the broken off pieces, 16 were lose in the bag. And to add to that I was having a bad paint day I think there was too much humidity in the air.
Another thing that is bugging me is that I can't find a photo of an MTB in this configuration: 2 torpedo tubes, 2 mid ship guns, 1 aft gun and 4 aft depth charges, I know it sounds trivial but its P_ssing me off
Anyway Im moving along with it, not the best job, and still needs some clean up here is what the deck is looking like

Should get some more work done on it tomorrow.

Nice fight Sal - keep up!
Heres the current state of my build, preshading, base coat and some light postshading done.
Next step is some future in preparation for decals and weathering
Cheers/Jan

Thanks Jan, Sub is looking good, dont know about sticking it on a rail car though
Ok Im still fighting with the MTB but making progress. 1 reader here has informed me that the configuration of this ship is similar to the ones that were built in the US for the Lend Lease program so I'll do some more searching tonight but here is what its looking like

My next question for you ship guys is should I drill out the torpedo tubes and paint the inside black or just paint the tip black? Thanks guy

Jan- Great work! You are progressing very quickly!
Sal- Good fighting, man! Hang in there! When I build my Vosper I drilled open the tubes and painted them black. It looks god, but I can't vouch for authenticity.
Cheers,
Guido

Thanks - not really, the part number is quite low and the fit is very nice - I am working on a review as i build along - hope to have it sent over the weekend.

Here is what my build will be, either in pre-war or sinking of the Bismark regalia.

Hopefully I can start it some time in July.

Hi, Vance!
Great to have you aboard.
There's to one of my favourite torpedo planes, I was hoping to see here.
How about building a plane of the Taranto Raid?
Cheers,
Guido

Although I haven't done much for a week or so due to work committments there is a lot of good work going on and its good to see the Stringbag, that really means we are covering all the torpedo weapons bases, have we missed anything?
Cheers

Quoting campaign regulations:
1) Any surface, air, or submarine vessel is allowed as long as the torpedo or its launching system identifiably constitutes the primary weapon of your submitted subject.
...
That certainly does cover a Stringbag as long as it has a fish clung to it's belly!
Cheers,
Guido

Ok guys,
Im calling this beast done. Not my best work thats for sure
a href="http://s836.photobucket.com/albums/zz283/ltb073/?action=view¤t=P1020916.jpg" target="_blank">

A fellow reader of the sight has informed me that a ship in this configuration was built in the US and sent via the Lend Lease Act to the Russian or Indian Navy. He had a photo of boat number 433 and since the kit only came with 2 sets of numbers there were not enough 3's

He also informed me that the life rings and raft weren't yellow after they were attached. So being the only color photos I could find were of other guys models I left them like that.
a href="http://s836.photobucket.com/albums/zz283/ltb073/?action=view¤t=P1020917.jpg" target="_blank">

Thanks for the help and thanks for letting me "stow away" here for a while. I think I'll stick to the armor vehicles.

Gentlemen,
in the usual- somewhat lengthy- way I have added an styrene frame around the seabase, smoothed over the corners and painted it in WEM Cowling Black, so you can't see the once coarse sids of the foam board any more.
The gap bewteen the frame and the prepared seabase was filled with acrylic gel and was painted over.
As previously mentioned, I dug out the cavity for the hull some more and added the model. The gap was again filled with acrylic gel. The gel is transparent, but appears white in the pictures as it has not yet fully cured.
Some more filling, wave shaping, and painting will be required before doing the inevitable dry-brushing with white paint to finish of this seabase.
Aftre that I'll turn back to the ship. If things go well I should be finsihed with 2 weeks.
... but when did I actually finish as scheduled last time? Can't recall...

Cheers,
Guido

Awesome builds here, gents! I'm truly amazed at how gifted you guys are! I'm really hoping to not embarrass myself with these group builds!
Anyhow, I uploaded my first photos of the Yankee Modelworks 1/350 Akula. I was successful in getting them into a folder, but how does one get them from their folder to Forum Postings??
Cheers!

Hi Daniel!
I upload my pictures to Photobucket. When go to the gallery and put the pointer onto the picture there is roll-down menu saying "Image Code". When you click it the image information will be highlighted. Copy it (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) it into the text written in your reply. That will already do it.
I guess other photo-sharing pages and agllieries will work quite similar. It works about the same way with the images gallery here at MSW.
Now here's what I've been doing the paste few days. Rigging is done. Railing is next, then weathering and then finishing the seabase off with drybrushing white and final clear finish.

Cheers,
Guido

Thanks Guido! Beautiful job on your Mary Rose!! As for my effort? Here's the top of the Akula's sail...
http://gallery.kitmaker.net/data/25724/Akula_72.JPGHopefully, this works. If so, I'll post a few more shots of the kit. Then I can get to work on her. I'd like to finish her by the end of the month. There's not a lot of pieces, but I'm stretched pretty thin on time. Oh, well! I have fun all the same.
Many thanks again!
Daniel Chavez
