OK. I did a copy and paste, but, well, all is not well. The photos I'm trying to post are already in my photo section of MSW. Argh! What am I missing?

Thanks again and apologies for any wasting of time!

Excellent builds everyone. I'm now entering a build in this campaign. It is going to be the 1:700 IJN Wakatake DD by Haswgawa. I started it a couple of weeks ago. Here is the fret shot .

AWESOME JOE!! Many, many thanks! I just knew there had to be an easy way to do this!

I'll post more on Tuesday! Tomorrow I'm taking my family to Disneyland. My 2 year old is dying to meet Mary Poppins and Mickey!

Guido,

Before I head off to bed, I just saw your U-217 (?) on modelwarships.com. That was a great build! I'm actually thinking of putting the Akula in an "emergency blow" type seascape. I've never tried it, but thought it would be way more exciting than the keel blocks I had planned. Your build was/is definitely inspirational!

Thanks for the help and encouragement!

Gentlemen-

Second across the finishing line, I'd like to introduce to you
HMS Mary Rose, WEM 1/350
Added detail:
Flags by NNT, Begemot, and Lion Roar and Figures by L'Arsenal
Rigging: Lycra
Colour coats: WEM and Revell
Weathering: Artitec chalks
This is a good fun model for a reasonable price. It's definitely worth buying, so get one before it is sold out again!

Cheers,
Guido

I got most of the hulls cleaned up and ready to paint. Work is going slow becuase I am working two projects at once. The Schnellboots will probably be done first.

First off, really nice work guys, some great looking builds. Also top job Guido, you really set the bar high with your builds. Love the fine rigging work.

Im finally starting a build, so just a little about me. I've not put a kit together since a kid and am now 36. I've always had an interest in WW2 but mostly land battles and in later years aviation, mainly due to flight sims. My interest turned to digital art from flightsim images which i recieved plenty of praise for so was well happy as i was self taught. Gradually it was fleet aviation that i found most interesting and only when i recieved a book "Ark Royal" did my interest for all things naval kick in. I have often wanted to get back into moddeling but it just never seemed to happen. When my brother recieved a kit for Christmas from his wife, only then did i seriously look at getting started. It was about that time i signed up here and have been in awe of some of the builds you guys do. I cant quite believe its been this long, over 6 months to finally buy a kit (well actually 3) So as you can see im completely novice but will give it my best. I'll post as many shots as possible and hopefully you guys will point out any mistakes as i go

So anyway, the build. I recntly bought the AFV club U-boat VIIb in 1/350. I had planned to keep it simple, and do a sub with markings form the kit. A little research and already i believe the kits suggested colours to be quite wrong in that it seems highly unlikely wartime U-boats ever had red lower hulls. After a little more research ive settled on the rather short lived U-50 comanded by Kapitänleutnant Max-Hermann Bauer. She served with 7. Unterseebootsflottille from 12th Dec 39 to 6th April 1940. It would seem likely her fate was to have sunk with all 44 crew after hitting a mine whilst outbound on her 2nd patrol. Her first patrol had resulted in 4 sinkings. I plan to model the boat full hull with the intention of having her set in a rolling sea. (see if i can just build the kit first) I also intend to have her marked for training during december before her first patrol. The only info im missing here is what shape tactical mark she would have carried. I know white having been built by F. Krupp Germaniawerft AG, Kiel.

Just one shot of the kit before i get started. God only knows where it will go from here

Nice subject, and you are quite right about the hull not being red in wartime.

Another thing not seen in wartime is turretnumbers should those be included.

Thanks Jan and no i will not be adding turret numbers I will be adding 3 yellow bands as assigned to training subs though. One on the conning tower and two on deck.

A progress shot. Main hull parts joined and a break from the instructions which would of had me adding detail parts already.

Leaving now for the glue to set hard before cleaning up. It is rather awkward in having the sub top half as a waterline piece. The seam it leaves runs just a few mm from a weld seam so will not be easily cleaned up.

Build nearly comleted parts dry fitted ready for paint

I know it has been asked before but has anyone got recomendations for paint coulors for the three tone camoflage patten. I normally use Tamiya paints for airbrushing.

Absolutely awesome build Keith. The size of that thing is just incredible. No idea on paints being new to the hobby but really looking forward to seeing it in colour

As for my build. All below waterline parts now attached. Im so glad i did not affix deck parts before now as was an incredibly fiddley process. Getting rid of the hull joint seam was solved after looking at many reference shots. Basically as far as i can see weld seams were all but flush so the ones represented on the model were way too thick. As such i took them all off with only details remaining. This explains why my sub looks a little scruffy at the moment.

Cheers...

I don't know a direct answer, but you may try here:

Hope this helps!
