Add on sets are starting to arrive

Mrs. Gremlin56 is back on speaking terms and I will be fine once the surgeon removes the Bismarck from a rather delicate place
Still waiting for several parts from Germany, apparently they make use of a long distance duck for deliveries too.
Swastika decals will start the journey over the Atlantic next week. I have now doubled the price of the Trumpeter build with ease, might even manage to treble it
At the moment stripping down my build so that I can add some newly purchased detailing while at the same time working on three new reviews and also building a 1/32 Fokker Dr.1 for a campaign over Scale Aircraft Modelling.
Fun weekend
Hope to put some interesting things on-line this weekend.
Cheers,
Julian

The postman just delivered my order from Germany. Really magnificent parts. "Modelslachtschiffe" make some gorgeous add-ons, I'll get some photo's up today. Compliments to Florian Hafemann for the etch work

Saturday March 16th update:
As I mentioned before the photo etch parts from "Modelschlachtschiffe" arrived from Germany today.
The order consisted of:
Big hanger door:

Small hangar doors:

Bridge wings:

Cloth signal flags and Admirals pennants:

When I built my Revell 1/350th Tirpitz I tried to create a weathered metal effect for the name plate:

This time I ordered a ready made name plate, it's beautiful:

Florian Hafemann's PE sets can be thoroughly recommended.
Off to work on a couple of reviews now,
Cheers,
Julian

Welcome to the club! I am honestly scared for Pontos and WEM to reveal all their add-ons; who knows what my Bissy will suddenly "need" from them!

Hi Julian,
nice parts for the hangar doors! What do you think - are these parts good? Would you recommend these? I am thinking about ordering these as well....

They are made of good quality metal and nicely etched. I am very satisfied with them and I plan to use them. They are not in the Mk.1 Value pack but combined with the value pack you have all the doors, catwalks and ladders necessary to really detail the hangars to the level of the real ship. I am glad I ordered Florian's add-ons. Ordering or not is your choice but I would recommend them

thanks Daniel, very kind
I am so angry with the mess they have made of photobucket.
I will have to see how I salvage the mess this will make of my blogs. Luckily I have all the photos on HD.

Hi Julian.
I will not comment on how fantastic the wooden deck looks.. oops I just did..
If you have any trouble with the deck lifting run some thin CA under it from an edge and just stick it sown again. It does not stain the deck and I can guarantee i will stick the deck down.. The old adhesive gives the CA something to grab and hold.
I also see the wooden deck has solved the anchor run problem you had.
You going to make some protective mats for the deck around the turrets?

You may be right, I may be crazy.

The deck seems to be sticking very well Warren. The rubber protection mats would be strips of Dark coloured rubber, so I'll skip that. Why would the deck need protecting from brass shells and not from an anchor chain bashing it?
That does puzzle me.....................

Has anyone tried applying decals to wooden decks? The next interesting question in the refit part of my build.
Another interesting happening is that I have stopped my subscription at Photobucket. I can't oversee which photos they will be pulling down yet but it might have effect on this thread.

Easy solution mate, just paint the area you want to put the decal on with PVA Glue. But first I would do a check on a scrap piece to make sure the glue you use doesn't change the colour of the deck if you get the glue outside the area covered by the decals. Maybe painting the markings would be better in 1/200?
Cheers and good luck Sir!
