Hi Daniel, I think I need to get rid of my José Feliciano glasses to stop me running into or dropping pieces of Bismark.
I have never inflicted so much damage to a model during the build as now.I really hate myself..............

@ Daniel, you may be right there mate! How is your's coming along?
@ Julian, I think it may just be the sheer size of the thing that is causing your the problems. Imagin how much bigger the Hornet is going to be!!
You may be right, I may be crazy.

Julian, Congratulations on effecting repairs to the 'battle' damage. If the Big B had you aboard on her maiden voyage she probably wouldn't have been caught and sunk.

Thanks Al,
Big difference in fixing a plastic model or an armoured battlewagon

Can't tell that I bounced the Admirals bridge and port hangar of the (wooden) floor though so I guess I get away with these antics

Sounds like you need a nice rug or mat under your hobby desk. That way you can also make your offerings to the carpet god more easily as well.

The mat sounds cosy for the tootsies but I already offer enough parts to the carpet monster

Check these photos Daniel:

A younger version of me sitting on a "Bruce anchor" that had been sitting on the sea bed for about 6 weeks before we pulled it.

This is the sort of toy I was allowed to play with as 25 year old. fantastic

A sister ship maintaining station during bad weather on the Dutch continental shelf. I spent months of my life keep position near oil rigs during bad weather
Check the amount of rust Daniel

Best toy ever:

The Typhoon / PIBY, 120 tons bollard pull. I loved sailing on this beast

.
I was about 23 years old at the time doing anchor handling and towing on the North sea around the Fulmar platform.
I am not sure who owns the rights to this photo. If anyone feels I shouldn't be posting it here please let me know and I will pull the pic.

Thanks Daniel, this was a long time ago, ( I am now nearly 57 years old

). I will take a glass of Cognac though and raise a toast to you and all the other model builders here at model shipwrights.

July 6th update:
I have finished a project that has run parallel to my Bismark build the last few weeks: My Kursk survivor, the Ferdinand:

Now of course this has nothing to do with ships so back to the Bismarck:
First 37mm's fitted, more railings fitted and some fitting and glueing of superstructure modules:

That will be all for now, sunny weather in Holland at long last so barbecues today and tomorrow with my sons.
Also very chuffed that Lewis Hamilton snatched the pole for the German GP right out from under old stinky finger Vettel's nose, so that should be a fight worth watching tomorrow.
Time to put a couple of wines in the cooler,
Cheers,
Julian
Stephen: there are a couple of pic's of the crane rigging added here. The wires for the block and hook still have to be fitted and nothing is weathered yet. The rigging line is a Polish variant of EZ-Line, ( use that as well), that works and stretches and holds paint beautifully.Available from GPM in Poland.
