Some amazing work so far Warren!! A real treat to follow along with!

The slight contrast in the color might actually work to an advantage at least from my perspective. Have FUN!!

Thanks Todd.

Great work Warren!! I can imagine that there's lots and lots more stuff in this scale, but you're doing a fantastic job!!

Interesting story on the lockers, though - I was not aware they did not have any refrigeration - even the German WWII subs had some, if insufficient and way to small... Must have been fun to be out at see patrolling with a Flower corvette....

Cheers

Jan

Fun you and I would not want to experience I think. And from what I have read their sea-keeping properties were not all that flash either.

Cheers
Warren

Sounds a little bit like a concept to me - some very special sea-keeping properties will limit the appetite for food for a larger part of the crew, so now need for food refrigeration. All good and set for a long voyage

Hello Everyone.

Welcome to another installment in my build log saga. Today I will concentrate on other items for the fore and aft decks.

First up, a hose reel with some paint on it finally.

I must admit I think they looked better in natural metal.. Oh well..

Then we have an ladder

Treads haven't been painted yet. And next we have an overall view of a heap of lockers and hatches while the where being painted..

Got to go and have dinner. I will continue this later.Back again.

Then we have an overall views of the fore deck..

Then some of the aft deck and engine room roof..

Obviously there is a lot of touching up to do.. of the model..

That's all for now.

Cheers

Wow, Warren, Your added details (especially the hose reel) are so good I can use them for reference on my next Royal Navy destroyer! You are making this flawed old kit into a masterpiece.

Hi Tim.

Long time no type.

Yes, these GLS sets certainly turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. They can take a bit of work but hopefully it will be worth it in the end. Oh BTW did I mention I had another Corvette waiting for the Short Foc'sle Version to be released...

Thanks for that Colin. Much appreciated. Still waiting to see yours though..

Anyway, last update for the weekend (unfortunately). An update on some of the deck fittings and the main anchors.

First up, the Downton Pump that sits on the side of the aft deck.

If anyone can enlighten me as to what it was used for please be my guest.

Next iare the main anchors. These have to be assembled and are not too hard to do.

Then we have the deck fittings for holding the anchor in place when it is hauled out of the water.

That is a 10mm square it is sitting in and gets attached to the fore deck before some extra, even fiddlier (is that a word) parts are attached.

That's it for now,
Cheers

Very nice updates and great progress, Warren!!

Even though apparently a lot of work and small parts, the GLS kit seems to pay off, this is really looking fantastic!

Cheers

It would have been finished if I was just building the Revell kit with no additions but as you said it is paying off.

Seems to be working ok now? I clicked on photos under my name cloggerdemps, then clicking 1/72 Flower Class Corvette appears to pick up the photos nicely.

Warren, You are doing a masterful job on this old Matchbox/Revell kit. I've been following along and am amazed at the work you are doing. I cant wait for the final product. I built this as a commission model a while back, and couldn't help but notice in the last picture I saw of the bow it looked like you haven't filled in the anchor hawsepipes yet-- that gave me a lot of difficulty, because I put off doing it until I'd put in some of the bow deck fixtures. If you've already done this great-- just don't want you to get all that beautiful detail in and knock something off like i did! I ended up faking it by having to cut each hawsepipe in half and inserting one half from the bow side, and one half from the deck side-- not ideal, but it worked. VR, Russ

What did you make the hawse pipes out of?
