What did you make the hawse pipes out of?[/quote]
Warren,
I tried brass and aluminum tube first, but could not get them to line up properly in the holes, and they didn't have the proper inside taper "look". Eventually I went with Evergreen Polystyrene tube, but I suppose any appropriate sized plastic tubing would work. I did what you did, built and painted the hull, thinking it would be a simple matter to just slip a tube from the bow anchor hawse opening to the deck opening, but the angle makes it very difficult, and the tubing has to be "tapered" on the inside at both openings to look right. Since I couldn't get the plastic tubing to line up properly, I just cut it in half, inserting a section from the bow and a section from the deck, gluing them in with liquid cement and then used a brass rod slipped through to keep them aligned until the cement set. Once done, I used a rounded Xacto blade and a round file to add the right "taper" to the inside. The anchor was a bit of a tight fit, but I couldn't look into the hollow bow anymore with the hawse pipes installed, so it was well worth the effort with all the extra detail I'd put in. Unfortunately for me, I'd added almost all the deck detail and rails, so I had a lot of repair work to do, rather than just some touch up painting. Hope this helps, VR, Russ

Hello Everyone.
Production at the Inman Shipyard will be somewhat delayed for a while as I am flying back and forward from Adelaide to Brisbane (2.5 hours each way) as my Father-In-Law passed away last Wednesday and the preparations for attending his funeral and attending the funeral will take up my time for a while. Can't build a model by remote yet..
Cheers

Warren,
My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Even though we enjoy a great hobby, family should always come first.
Very Respectfully, Russ

Thanks Dave and Darrell.
Amid all the sadness in the house we have at least three nice reminders of my Wife's Father..
The candle has a lovely scent as well. Please excuse the background.
I had to get back to the bench and take my mind off other things. These are basically the final things I have to do with this set of upgrades from D J Parkins. First up a couple of storage racks for Carley Floats that sit to the rear of the main deck..
Then we have a detail view of the rear of the structure.
And this is basically how they will sit on the model. I couldn't get them to balance properly so I used my Mk.I hand..
Then we have the davit for the 4 in gun..
Then a detail shot of the davit's working bits..
Then with the oily bits installed on the davit..
And that's it for now.
Thanks for looking
Warren

Warren,
that is sad news, my sympathies and condolences with you and your family!
The good thing with a hobby is that it gives you the chance to shift focus and get away from reality when you need to. Great progress on your flower, despite all circumstances.
Cheers,
Jan

100% correct there Jan. Takes your mind away from reality alright! Maybe that is why I have never been attracted to drugs to do the same thing..

Thanks for that Russ.
Not being a stay in bed all day type I dragged my butt out of bed and crawled into the hobby cave (well not REALLY crawled) and got some work done. First up, the engine room air intakes.
I had to remove a large band around the top of each of them to gifit the new PE collars. Don't tell Mr Parkins but the collars aren't long enough for the smalled vents and there is a gap around the back you can't see in this photo. I will find some way to disguise it. I wouldn't be surprised if I did something wrong..
Oh the seams on the insides of the intakes have been filled just like the outsides.
Then we have a fairlead, a bollard and a sheilds that sits on the foredeck..
Then I started the 4 inch gun set as I had gone as far as I wanted with the deck set for the moment. Here is the gun and it's mount after some clean up..
Then we have the pedestal the gun sits on. First the underside, complete with not-very-well rolled centre piece.
Don't worry I don't think you will be able to see the piece well enough to see it's deformity..
Then the topside....
The clamps can stay on for a while until the CA glue dries.
That's it for now.
Cheers

This is bringing back memories.
Good work.
With painting the funnels, referencing photos would show me the interior of the funnels would vary from being black (how I painted them), and being white!?
I had to order another 4" gun set and start again. The gun fixtures require a bit of predrilling in the gun itself I seem to remember. My 4" is fixed forwards so there is little opportunity to see inside the gun housing, although I did try and keep the detail required.

Lots drilling yes. Keep the helpful comments coming Sir. I have found a really good photo reference for HMCS Sackville which is very much like Snowberry in many ways.
I will be painting my funnel interior black as well. I don't see how it could be anything else in these older ships with there engine types.
Cheers Colin and thanks again.
