And after a brief spurt it is slowed again as I ran out of Lifecolor Hull Red which is a bit lighter than the old standby I always use XF-9.

Well well well.. the hull was finally finished (paint wise) last week and I have started adding all the deck furniture including wooden sheeting vents, stell decking areas etc etc.
Pontos set is excellent.

A couple of shots.. a bit late but hey I was busy modelling..
I also fixed the links in the earlier post about the painting of the camo on the hull. And I have sprayed the Hull Red, boot top and touched up the bits where some paint bled under the masking tape. Most was around blisters on the hull.

Then over the last few days I have been continuing the bow stuff and added a couple of derrick poles..
The vents on the forward side of the raised second turret..
And worked on another jib of some sort. Each of the cross braces are seperate PE parts so it is taking a while..
That's it for now.

I wouldn't recommend the Gripen (Kitty Hawk 1/48). Many fit issues and detail you may not want to incorporate but have to due to the desin of the model.

Wow, Warren, you are a modelling polymath! As if the Rodney wasn't looking fantastic enough, apparently you have mastered armor and aircraft as well!

I don't know if I would say 'mastered'...
Second ever model I built was an aircraft and they were the main things I built in my formative years. I like to have something ticking along while building a bigger project, the thing is there is almost always something to do with these 1/200 ships and detail sets, until you need a paint..

It's true what they say: Size does matter!
I chose 1/72 as preferred scale due to lack of space and plethora of topics and it went nuts from there...
I've a 1/24 Typhoon in the stash but display space is basically putting me off starting it. Ships are great in that they are long but can easily be placed on a shelf or in a cabinet... Wing things on the other hand.... hm

It is easy to justify if you go an a dollar per hour ratio you got for your money. $600 divided by say 1000hrs build time (VERY conservative) and that comes out as less than $1 per hour. But the Rodney is taking many more hours than that so I look at it as very cheap entertainment. I mean you pay $20 to go see a movie which goes for about 2 hours... That is $10 per hour!!
