It is easy to justify if you go an a dollar per hour ratio you got for your money. $600 divided by say 1000hrs build time (VERY conservative) and that comes out as less than $1 per hour. But the Rodney is taking many more hours than that so I look at it as very cheap entertainment. I mean you pay $20 to go see a movie which goes for about 2 hours... That is $10 per hour!!

My Wife asked me when the new Trumpeter Titanic is going to be released and asked me if I wanted it... she is a keeper!

My wife used to ask if I wanted models for birthdays/xmas etc but now has refused to fund anymore until the stash has been substantially reduced

Okay, some more progress..
The foredeck is sprout protuberances at a large rate. Yesterday..
Today..
See what I mean! That area is behind the second wave breaker, the first is basically fished, except for some dreaded sticky-uppy things..
Sticky-uppy things must wait until near the end or they may depart the area they are attached to. Then there are these two sets of barrel cleaning rods I have attached to their cradles..
These flank the forward turret and I presume there are two more flanking the aft turret, which isn't really aft at all..
That's it for now.

That is why I like Pontos so much. All the extra detail you could want and more. And their wooden decks stick and stay stuck.

Hello again.
Lots of deck fittings on-going, and as I found out much more included than on the Trumpeter original. For example..
.. four paravanes.
And I can't find part 940 anywhere in the set...

I actually left off some of the detail as it was just too small..
I have also misplaced a number of the ammo boxes I folded up early in the build.. bugger..

Nice work on the placement of the wood decking, looks like it sat down nice and even. All those vents and equipment for the decks sure does make them seem cluttered now.

This set is one of the best fitting ones I have used. Not much trimming to do and with a mist of water down first makes it easy to move into place. Nice strong adhesive as well.
On another note, anyone know what colour the waterways etc were on the camoed Rodney?

Hmmmm.. I looked at my Nelson kit and I may be able to get a G2 from that one. I did scratch build one last night though...

No piccies tonight but I have now completed 99% of the main deck fittings, jsut the sticky-uppy things to go.
I actually installed the first waterway this afternoon and am amazed at the level of detail Pontos have got into this set. Then after the waterways there are barriers then railings. Mostly you just get railings....
