Good thing I was sittin' down.
Seriously, she looks great. I really like this kit and I'll have to get one myself. Awesome job.

Just what's that 'sposed to mean?
Get the kit, Ken, it's a gas to build, and it has the special "see through" feature if you want to build it (like the "invisble man" type models!) so you can view the interior of the flight deck (which is included with the photo-etch enhancements)...I didn't want this feature, so I built it the traditional way...maybe next time! Makes a nice little display!

Very nice Mark. it turned out great.
I’s it the hull or the deck that has the invisible parts?
And I just hope those invisible man kits don't come with an interior.

t's the flight deck Jacob. My USS Lexington has the same feature. Dragon and Trumpeter are really setting themselves apart in 1/700 ships.

That could prove to be very challenging.

Ahoy mates! Time for a SITREP.
We've got 32 entrants for this build. How is everyone doing on their subject? Problems? Questions? Photo updates?
Sound off or have a shot put across yer bow!

Hi Kenny,
Second build Ise is at a stand still I've hit one of those modellers blocks that we get every now and then, also have two F-14s stuck in that block.
I need something different to build to get me out of it.
PS. Guy's visit British Bulldogs starting tomorrow (17th) and vote in the April MoM.

I'm pretty new to this group but would like to join this campaign. I'm building a1/35th Elco PT boat from the the Italeri kit and back dating it to a Ron 33 boat that took part in the Battle of Surigao Strait. Is it eligable? I've had to cast guns, mounts, ready ammo boxes, ammo mags, etc. and scratch build the radome, mast, etc. It is not finished and has gone through several paint jobs as i have made contact with crew from the actual boat as well as vets from the Ron. I have learned a great deal along the way.
How do i go about joining this campaign?

Nice build, mate!
BUT, don't think you'll be eligible with this build, only because the build is already started...not really fair to the other participants who began the campaign with an unbuilt kit, know what I mean?
But Kenny Loup is the campaign manager of this one, so he'll have to give his final say on this, my friend...
Cheers,

Hi Gunny,
I may be having a senior moment so bear with me but I thought i was asking about the Leyte Campaign. it began in Oct'06 so I should be OK. I wanted to join your's but in an e-mail you explained that I actually started my build before the campaign began. I have no issue with that. fair is fair. Did I somehow cross tracks to the Small comabat vessel campaign? Didn't mean to, sorry.

Ahoy mates.
After some thought, I'm going to allow this to be entered into the campaign. Had Ed begun his build before October of '06, I would not allow it. But, considering that he started after the campaign started, he's ok. Ed, just make sure you sign up for the campaign in the MSW Group Builds section.

Hi Gator,
I went to the Group Build section and signed up in the Leyte Gulf Campaign. Thank you. This is my first ship model since I was a kid 50 years ago and it has been and is a real learning experience!
If I want to post photos and details do I do it in a thread I start in the Leyte Gulf Campaign folder?
I have photo album pages of the build and also color and black & white photos of the Ron 33 boats in 1944. Are these items people would be interested in seeing too?
The build is not done yet. Most of the pieces you see in the photo are just sitting in place for the picture. The deck is not even attached. I still need to cast another part or 2 also.
Most of the time has been spent making molds and casting the additional pieces need to build the 495 boat along with scratch building pieces for which I had no ptototype to copy, like the radom..
Thanks,
Ed
