Finally got the camera working again.
Heres my progress so far.

And does any one know what the heck these 2 big things are and what color they should be?

Hi Jacob
Those were the Zuikaku Funnels...
They shoul be painted in the same light grey as you paint the hull/deck, with the "top" in black...

Early scheme:

Late scheme:

Hope this helps

Thanks Rui.
I was thinking that may be what they were but really wasn’t sure.

Thanks tomy good friend, Gunny, I put the finishing touches on the Knox's LCC.

Shortly after I hurt my fingers, I contacted Gunny to see if he would make me some of his rope fenders. He kindly said yes and in between his many projects, he made me four. I washed them in a brown flesh wash and then dry brushed them. I also remade the rope on the deck.

Thanks Mark.

Hi Kenny

Mark is a real mate, isn't he?
It makes it look much more real!

I think it looks very good, but (I am sorry, but I have to tell you this!) since you have made some rust, wear in the portholes/lookouts/windows making it weathered, you should make some weather in heavy dutty areas, like the engine cover - it just look too neat
I apologise, but I think it would improve the looks

No problem Skip. The floor is weathered pretty good. Some drybrushing will take care of the engine deck.

Well heres an update on my Zuikaku.
I’ve added the flight deck so its looking more like a carrier now.

I’ve got a question for you guys.
Most of the planes will probably be sitting between the middle and rear elevates. I’m also planing on having one of the elevators bringing a plane up to the deck.
Now I have 4 types of planes ( and don’t know what any of them are) in the kit. One of them is smaller then the others (I’m guessing there a type of scout plane or fighter) and is the only type that will fit on the elevates.
Now would it be better to have this plane coming up behind the rest or in front of them? Does it even mater?

Ahoy Jacob. You idea of having the fighter come up on the elevator is spot on. They would have spotted the torpedo bombers first, all the way to the back. Carring the most weight, they need the longest amount of deck. Next would be the dive bombers and then finally the fighters.

The torpedo bombers more than likely would have been Nakajima Jills.

The dive bombers would have been Yokosuka Judys.

And then the late model Mitsubishi Zeke was the fighter.

OK....finally a bit of an update. I got my cast 6 inch triple turrets from Keith last week. THe recast gun tubes didn't fare well, so I am making them presently out of evergreen rod. So far, I ground and leveled off the gun platforms and have made a few of the tubes. Next planned step will be to put the railing alongside the main deck BEFORE I attach the guns and superstructure. This I hope will make every thing easier to do. I still have to airbrush the main guns, secondary guns, and entire superstructure the main color then go back and detail paint it. Now that I am working, I find I have so little personal time left to do much during the week. Then scouting and TV and planning this hobby show we are running in March....whew, now I know why we make these campaigns a year long.

Hey you swamp dinghy bilge rat!
You did a great job finishing them out, my friend!
I think they could've been a bit smaller, but jeez, if you had to wait any longer for them. . .
Anytime, my brother, was a pleasure!
And also, Gator, with all the nasty weather we've had this weekend, I actually got some work done on my Leyte entry as well as my DDD2 entry!

Great news guys. Steve, I'm interested in seeing some photos of your progress.
Gunny, what are you building for Leyte? The Independence? When we going to see some photos?

Photos?
Shoot Gator, I just got started!
I have the four piece hull assembled and puttied,(waiting to be sanded, trimmed and smoothed), top deck section assembled, and am currently working on building 17 extremely Lilipution sized 20mm guns for the top deck of my entry, which is DML's "Premium Edition" USS Independence. . .and Gator, I'm definitely gonna be needing a set of masks for her warpaint scheme

When I get something worth looking at, I'll get some photos up, I promise!
Keep Modeling,
~Gunny

Hi Kenny

Some progress shots of the IJN Isuzu

Man oh man this kit is fun its not hard but its a real, real challenge cleaning all the flash on the 1/700 parts.

Patience over the quality etc of the shots I am a novice with the camera.

I've been taking lots of pictures, but I am saving them all for a feature article, so ya'll have to just wait, I want to make sure you read it rather than say, "Oh I've seen all those pictures before" (Not that I would honestly expect any of you guys to even have that thought enter your head)

Hey Gator. ..

Well, finally had a little time to work on one of my own models this morning (actually two, my DDD2 entry as well! ), so here is what I got so far. . .not much, but the four piece lower hull was a real SOB on this one. . .still don't understand why DML had to mold it that way, but, what the hey. . .still lots of time left to finish er up (thank goodness!)

Just got some new progress pictures up.

Decks painted using one of Kennys masks and I’m still working on the hull.

I may really get this one done by the end of the month.

Card Stock. After finding Louis Coatney's card stock DE Buttler for FREE, I had to try it. For the ease of printing it on one page I went with 1:600,( I will know better next time). the scale in these plans is inconsistant. Having never nade a card stock model I found out a few thinges the hard way. Paper has a grain. cardstock with more than one ply (layer) can be difficult in tight bends. Wood glue is your best friend. This was made with a file folder and tooth picks. If you would like to see how it turned out see "My Photos"

Ahoy, "redshirt"!

Very cool cardstock model, mate, there are some amazing results that I've seen attained in this medium. . .what have you got cooking with that other beauty in your gallery? Looks to be an equally interesting subject, my friend. . .
