Man, that really emphasises the need for a 350 scale Japanese carrier. Thing is they wil probably pop the Akagi out and it will be many many years before they get around to the Zuikaku, I would love to do this one in 350 using Gator's masks.

Thanks guys.

Steve I agree a 1/350 Zuikaku would be fantastic. Just probably isn’t nere the top of any companies to do list.

Ahoy, Gator!
Well mate, a short update on my Independence...layed three coats of Shine Red on the lower hull, in preparation for part 1 of the measure 32 8/A color scheme (made soooo much easier by the use of Gators Paint Mask ! ) Letting the paint cure a good two days before I mask it off and get busy....built a few members of the airwing as well.....
~Cheers,

Sitrep - Tama is now mounted on a sea base, ships boats painted.
Only things left to do are the rigging, detail painting and weathering (restrained).

Very nice work Luciano. I'm eagerly awaiting the Ise build. I wouldn't mind building one of those myself.

Hi Luciano and Sean

Nice looking 5.500 ton Light Cruisers you have there!
Luciano I can only see the third image...
Sean, check your references for the derrick and the boom, since the IJN Isuzu isn't carrying the seaplane no more

Congrats to both

Sweet little build there Redshirt. Way to go. When you're finished with her, don't forget to post the photos in the Leyte Gulf gallery.

Hi

I am considering to join this campaign for some variation. I have not build ships in many many year, so is as rusty as wreck is this part of the hobby

I am trying to find an easy build to start with that can be finished in a limited period of time. Therefore I am kind of hooked on a submarine. Initial research have yielded a lot of different submarines. I really wanted to build the Dace or Darter as they opened the battle as I understand it. However, I cannot find any suitable models available even though I know Trumpeter makes a model of a late Gato.

I am considering the Blackfish that should be an early (1941) Gato class submarine. I would try this KIT even though it seems to be a little on the big side for a starter project.

I assume a float plane or carrier based aircraft would not qualify?

I will continue my research, but if anybody comes up with a submarine kit from Leyte that is smaller than 60 cm please let me know

Ahoy Jesper.

I do believe that Squadron has the new late war Gato in stock. I check what I can today. I'll be able to look better tonight.

Almost got pictures of the Zuikaku outside today.
Just trayed taking it out and in the posses I snapped the top off one of the masts. Once its glued back on I’ll try again.

PS: Kenny I just noticed your new banner. It looks great.

I hate when I snap things off my kits. I popped the antenna off the LCC at the Houston show (forgot it was there ). Luckly, I had a friend with super glue and tooth picks.

Thanks for the compliment on the banner. It was fun to make and if anyone would like one, let me know.

A quick progress report on the Ise, she is about 50% complete detail painting, fixtures and fitting still to be done and of course a sea base.

A small amount of filler was required around the bow and stern and also along some of the superstructure joints. No PE being used on this one you will have to wait for my next subject Can't say what that is but it will be part of the 'Made in Britain' group build over on British Buldogs

Bow shot
