Hello Alan, Thanks, I might have this finished just in time to start on an X-craft when it comes out. Al

Haven't had an update in a while because I'm still waiting for ADV/Azimut to ship me some missing parts for one of the crewmen that I received from them. He was shipped without his two alternative heads, and with the wrong arms. I just ordered two more RN types from Ian over at 'Wee Friends' to help flesh out my crew. Still no word on when those three figures announced by U-models for the Vosper will be available. Those two officers would really look great standing on the bridge. Oh well, must be patient. I will post again when I have made some progress. Al

Yesterday, I mentioned that I had ordered two figures from the 'Wee Friends' line of Friendshipmodels. Today, I received an e-mail from Ian at Friendship informing me of a refund for a mistake in the amount of postage he had charged me to ship my order. I just wanted to publicly acknowledge his honesty in doing business, a sometimes rare quality these days. Thanks Ian. Al

Hi Al,

Any luck with the missing arms for the ADV crewman??

Ian is a good guy, always trustworthy and couldn't be more helpful. Never had a problem doing business with him. Enjoy the wee friends figs.

Looking forward to final developments with the Vosper..

Cheers

Hello Alan, I agree about Ian and would not hesitate to do business with him again. I did recently receive an e-mail from ADV/Azimut. Seems they were on holiday and will soon ship out my missing parts. With the two figures from 'Wee Friends' also expected, I should be making some progress soon. Now if U-models will get on the ball and release their three promised figures, I will eventually have a full crew. Al

Got some work done on the new additions to the crew. They're from the 'Wee Friends' range. Clean up was a snap. I did replace the heads with two from Hornet. There was nothing wrong with the originals, I just thought these two worked better together. The heads are not attached, only temporarily pinned in place. Likewise, the figures are not fixed in position yet either. I glued short pieces of wire into holes drilled in their heels. These were inserted in holes drilled in the deck. I played around with their placement and the arrangement until I found the one I liked best.

I also replaced the hands of the figure on the left with two from the spares box. I will post some more pics when they are painted and permanently mounted onto the deck. Al

The Horror!

The Horror!

Thanks to quick thinking (and super glue) they were returned to duty!

They aren't the best pictures, for this I apologize. Now there are seven. All I need is my bridge crew and we can call it done. Al

Thanks Alan, I'm quite happy with how it's coming along. Now, if U-models will just release their promised figures, I'll be a happy camper. Al

Haven't made any progress since the last update. Still waiting for ADV/Azimut to ship me the promised replacement parts for a figure that I ordered at the beginning of July! There is some good news. Those three figures announced by U-models for the Vosper are finally available. They're listed on Blast Models website, and going for 12.50 Euros apiece. Definitely want the two officers, can't make up my mind about the other. Probably will get him too, if just for the Halibut. Al

Hi Al,

Thanks for the heads up, the officers look good. I have another LCM3 and LCVP plus the two Vospers to build so the more crew the merrier.

I do hope we get a new LCA and LCPL and R as there are good prospects there for the Bruneval Raid and Operation Archery.

I wonder if Italeria will do a crew as they have for the other boats?

Cheers

Don't know what they're waiting for, there has been a lot of interest shown in their releasing a set. Resin figures are nice, but a less expensive alternative would be welcome. Before I'm done, I think I will have spent more on the crew than I paid for the boat! Al

Hello Alan, They were there, but don't seem to be anymore. They were listed as UMOD147, UMOD148, & UMOD149. Don't know what's going on. Would you believe that I'm still waiting for ADV/Azimut to send me the replacement parts for the figure that I received at the beginning of July. The last response that I had from them was August 25, it said that they had been on holiday and would ship the parts by the end of the month. Several unanswered e-mails and a month later, and I still don't have them. I didn't expect to receive such poor service from them. Al

Just had a look over at ADV/Azimut's website, and lo and behold, two of the three are listed there now! Along with an SAS Jeep crew, an SAS Officer, and a couple of LRDG types. I guess we're playing 'Musical Figures', or 'Hide and Go Seek'. Al

Hi Al,

I have a couple of arms left over from my ADV build, can't remember which ones, but I'll check and see if they might be of use.

I'll have a look on the ADV site.

Love the paint job on the latest crewmen, but they seem to be very swan necked (too much skin showing between ears and sweater tops), could you trim them down a little?
