Thanks mate, I'd have never have thought of that!

The 'unsightly seam' on the crane is easy to get rid of mate. Just fill it with the Krystal Klear or Humbrol Window maker stuff. When you have it levelled out just paint it. Seam gone. You could also use the Gunze Mr Primer 500.

Jumped straight to the last page to see progress you have made Russ. I must say I am a little disappointed Russell.. tut tut..

Imaging Night of the Pom Poms, or Revenge of the Boats in 1/200 scale..

It behooves me to say, Warren, that real life has been rather boorish of late and impeded progress where progress has been needed

But, rather like Brexit, there is a lot going on behind the scenes but not much seems to have be accomplished on face value.

However the dockyard is active on several fronts. The results of their labour are not yet ready to reveal.

The cranes in particular are nearly all glued back together. note to self-order 0.4mm wire!

Night of the Pom Poms in 1/200?! Aaargh! That would be like the IMAX version

Nice solution on the main guns Mate

KGV's look good with the main guns elevated at different angles.

Keep up the good work mate.

Ah-ha... but, Si, that solution is Jan's not mine...

Meanwhile I have managed to scrounge a bit of time at the bench, such that it is. UP launchers finished, cranes ready to mount to cabs, and last but not least a colleague at work made up a little jig to my specs, so that i can ensure that when I glue the brass barrels back onto the plastic shaft they will be parallel and in line!

Hopefully I can have the cranes and guns finished in the next few days and sling some paint around...

Hi Russ,

cool to see some substantial progress on your King!! Your cranes and the UP's look really good - and your little jig - that's a mighty fine idea, mate!! Makes me almost a little envious...

Cheers,

Update 13 August

Well, I think its about time for a decent update rather than a teaser so here we go...

The destruction of the 14" guns

then the master model barrels clamped up in the jig with some foam and a timber brace and glued to the remaining frame with 2 part epoxy

a cheeky dry fit

and arrayed

all those bits ready to paint

and the first item I've glued to the ship in several years, the aft UP launcher

X turret prepped with holes to locate the UP launchers

barrels painted

Now Pontos provide a template to shape the UP shields accordingly which I did

but then I checked my references

and the profile morski plans

at which point I decided to tear down the shields and redo them

searchlights

and shipped

small railings around the signal lights on

searchlights and half railings

well that's it for now folks while i shift my attention to the cranes, 5.25's and the directors

thanks again for looking and for sticking around for this build!
