Ahoy Mark..........................Great build! ........OOB? That Revell Lionfish
still builds into quite a very nice model, considering the age of the molds.

Cheers,
Joe

Hey Joe, completely OOB, mate...no time for any fanciness on this one...and yessir, I do agree that this is definitely and "oldie but a goodie" from Revell, and one kit that I would recommend for a first build for ANY budding ship modeler...that's primarily why I chose the kit to use as a base subject for my Sharkhunters Magazine SBS build series...
Thanks for the kind comments!
Cheers,

Hey Gunny,
I actually just finished reading your last column an hour or so ago since I couldn't fall asleep. Great stuff!

As for sharkhunters, I am a member, yes, but I don't know if I will be next year. I can tell Harry has a special kind of relationship with himself and I don't care to find out about it when I'm really interested in submarines.

Back on topic now... I am working as fast as I can on my XXI, but since I will be away from 10th to 18th, I am not sure I will be able to complete it in time.... I will try though!

Ahoy, maties!

We actually had about 38 seconds this morning where the sun actually peaked through the eternal winter cloud cover here in PA, and I took the opportunity to grab my gear and entry to snap a couple shots...may not get the opportunity again for a while!

Congrats. Awesome build Gunny. I really liked painting this model as well.

Ahoy Crew,
I managed to launch the U-84 this morning, just under the deadline. She is another Mirage 1/400th Scale example. An extremely interesting build, since this was one of the earliest mods for more firepower. These kits are definitely worth the time and effort.

So what say ye, Mates ? Critiques are always welcomed - only way to get better ! Trust me, you can't hurt my one feeling !

So now I can relax and go back to research for a few weeks awaiting the PT Build. Keep building Gang !............Semper Fi....................Bruce

Ahoy Bruce,

Once again, awesome work!

Yes they are tiny but they are nevertheless beautiful little kits.

Howdy fellas

My, what a bunch of superb entries you guys have put together for this Campaign! Really nice stuff for the second installment of this most excellent build. I'm only sorry I missed out on it.
Maybe next time.

And, if there is a next time {read; DDD3...or, maybe just DIVE in 3D? } I think I may have a suggestion for a few of you.................

A company called Moebius has just announced an upcoming new release of the very cool submarine from both the Movie and T.V. version of the same name, and I'm of course talking about "Voyage to the bottom of the Sea" Yes, the Seaview. It will be in 1/128th scale {of all things}, and be a whopping 39" long!

Here's a link for the kit if you are interested

http://www.moebiusmodels.com/news_.html

Anyway, just wanted the chance to congratulate all of the fine members who built such wonderful undersea entries for this superbly run Campaign....Well done All!!

Tread.

Jiri,
Very Nice Type XXIII !!! Be sure to post the final photos after weathering, I'm really looking forward to the results. Seems like a decent kit - just too big ! But with that scale the weathering really shows up nicely. Great Job !

So Skipper.....how many models are we up to in the count ? Seems to me it has been a successful campaign !

Hi all,

Just a few lines to let you all know that tonight I completed the last two models which illustrate one Type XXIII from WWII to the mid-1960`s, these last two show Type XXIII (S-170 , "HAI") after the conning tower had been modified and finally Class 240 (S-170 "HAI") after the new diesel motor had been fitted and the hull extended by 1.2 m.

All I need to do now is take some photos and up load them into the DDD2 completed area.

I am really pleased, a few weeks ago I had to under go an operation for a detached retina in my left eye, the right eye also need some minor damage repair, so while my eye sight is not brilliant yet ,it is great to be able to do a little modelling

Unfortunately my second build took too long and I will not make it. Oh well, at least one made it. What a shame. It will be done in a couple of weeks though, I'm sure.
