MedEvac situation (Medical Evacuation)
Thanks, Rui, I was thinking about this evacuation scene as a second alternative, and I guess it will be the best choice for this project. There are things I want to ask, though... Can the evacuation be perfomed by a helicopter? Say, one of the Seahawks taking the injured personnel from the sub to take it to the cruiser? Is the speed of 5 knots suitable for such an evacuation ( I have to "design" the waves according to the speed)? And last question; is there any need to "tie" the ships together for any reason, can they sail totally seperated from each other during this evacuation?
I hope I do not bother you people with these simple questions, and I appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi Cagin
No bothering, really

Yes, the Evac can be made by the Seahawk, but then I think that there's no need for Tico to be so near

The Seahawk would preform the Evac and head for Tico or to a nearby Hospital base... (if within reach). Another way of doing it would be the Evac being made to Tico and it would navigate to within range of coast for the Seahawk.
Cables will be lauched from Tico to the sub (at least three) one for distances, and two for passing the case stretcher with pulleys..
10 knots will be a good and safe speed so that ships can have a steady course
Hope this helps

Thanks for the update on your Oriol Mike
I guess this photos are in the proper gallery and when you have your DigiCam back, please take new photos

It's amazing how we get to miss those gadgets!
Nice looking Sub, btw. Did you had trouble with the hull junction too? I had a terrible issue with my Kursk (I guess it's the same model - different name and box)
Congratulations on your Entry!

I found the fit in the bow area as well as the doors to be a challenge. The reason I finally got a digital camera was because I'd have a project finished and photographed but would find myself having to wait 'till the film was used up before I could post any photos. That was happening about once a month. I wanted the digi cam so I could post in real time when I wanted to and as I've stated the quality of the film developing and printing has been going doiwnhill for the past year or so. I loaned the digi cam oput for a week and during that time the case for the sub came and I needed to ship it right away so I went and bought a roll of film so I could have some photos or else it would be shipped and never photographed. So I'm afraid I'm not able to take any new photos.

New at this,
if I get it wrong and run aground just tow me off and sink me in deep water.
I hope that you will find attached a single photo of my recently completed (First Sub Model, well to be honest my first ever boat model) ICM Type XXIII U-Boot.

Hi Pete!
Looks
GREAT to me, mate! Have you got any other shots of this one? It would be cool to see some other angles (and close ups, hint ,hint!

). Skippers on Holiday until the end of the month, but he may be poking his head in just to see what's shaking...Thanks for sharing, Pete! And by the way, what's your next ship model gonna be, mate?

Gunny,
Here are some more photos of my type XXIII, could be better but I am not great with a lens, normally I only use day light, rushed home from work and snapped a few under poor light, well it is summer here in England, that means it only rains twice a day (LOL). When the sun comes out I will try and do better.

My next boat will be a Vosper MTB, I am making it as a surprize gift for a friend whose dad was on these coastal craft during WWII, in fact he was mentioned in Despatches for an act of bravery during an incident in Ostend Harbour in 1945.
All the Best
Pete

Got the resin sail for the Sea Tiger

. Dang, cat's outta the bag now. Got to rework the periscopes to make the match the movie. The only conversions are for Gato boats and the Sea tiger was the Archerfish, a Balao.

I pulled my model from the stash, opened the box, opened the instructions, fiddled with the sprue trees, put it all back in the box, sighed and then placed it back on top of the pile.
I know...I should be keel hauled.

It looks as if you're on the road to being a good shipbuilder, Pete! For a first effort, you did good, my friend...keep us updated on the Vosper, Bro!

Hi all,
Just sailed over from figures and thought I'd drop anchor for a while with you guys.
The only ships, subs etc I've made was when I was a kid. Just stuck them together and that was it.
I fancied joining this campaign and am going to do a OOB build of what seems to be a fairly common kit.
It's the Revell 1:125 German Submarine U-99

My work collegue and friend, PeteV that has joined this site recently and who some of you have met (so to speak) is doing the same model but knowing him it will be a hell of a lot better than mine.
I've only glued the hull together so far and will post progress as I get a bit further into it.
I already forgot to put a piece inside the hull before fixing them together

That'll teach me to follow the instuctions :-)
Take it steady
Vic

Hi Vic, and
Welcome to Model Shipwrights, mate! Like I told, your buddy Pete, be careful, because shipbuilding can be
VERY addictive! :-) ...
Hope you have fun with your build, mate, keep us updated with your progress!

Finally I'm in right place. Because of all these changes on Armorama I missed that ships campaigns were moved modelshpiswright.com.
I've started my Revell's U-BOOT (U-552 early) 1/72 few weeks ago and I'm really dissapointed with quality of this model. So many seams and poor fitting make work on this model horrible.
I can say that the hull is ready and I've started conning tower (periscope to be precise).

Sad to say My Sit Rep is the K-19 is still in the box. I finished my Arizona for Dreadnaughts. My Reagan is half done and now I'm all packed up and my hobby bench is all in boxes. The closing on the house is Friday. My move to an apartment will limit my bench time but I will get her started as soon as I finish the Reagan. Pics of the Zona are forthcoming .... They are not the best quality I was in a little rush.

D #1...USS Louisiana - anti-foulding red on the lower hull, 20 missile bay doors in closed position, ready for the top side and nose colors.
D #2...USS Sea Tiger - resin sail installed, hull and sail primed and ready for the pink. I'ved make a mask for the limber holes. Cleaned and altered the periscopes and 5" gun.
D #3...IJN I19 - Still need to purchase this Nichimo beauty. Any ideas where I can get one?

Hey guys,
Getting ready to paint bubble gum pink on the Sea Tiger. Boy, that's going to look really strange.
I'll post some photos as soon as I get it done.

I'm really looking forward to seeing your pink sub Kenny!
My Nichimo type IXB has the hull 75% done and the conning tower about 50% done. Then the paint.....going for a homemade Edelweiss on U124. Wish me luck!!
The latest survey shows that
three out of four people make
up 75% of the population.

First coat on the USS Sea Tiger. I brushed it on to get better coverage. I'll sand lightly with 800 grit and the recoat with the airbrush.
