Ahoy there Crew!
After all the current changes and the running Campaigns, I still have to ask:
- How is your DDD2 Campaign entry (entries) going?
- Any progress?
If any of the enlisted man , don't know what we are talking about, here's a link that explains all
Dive! Dive! Dive! 2 CampaignThis is a year long Campaign, so you are still have (plenty of) time to enlist
Thanks for the updates

I have just got going on my Nichimo 1/200 type IXB. Over all not a bad kit, Too bad there isn't any after market stuff for it. I would like to replace some of the details with PE. Not in a big hurry since my job is keeping me from doing hardly any modeling. I missed the Dreadnaught completion and and am slowly working on my Flattop campaign entry.

Hi Plasticat
It's a good model considering it's age

I think you could try and scratchbuilt some of the needed items...

And Dreadnoughts it's still running, mate! If you have an entry you still have time to finish it!

Skipper, Thank goodness this is another
LONG campaign, my friend! Since my last reply, I have broken the seal of my entry, the USS Hampton Nuke sub,1/350, by DML, but that's about all the further, mate! Concentrating heavily on my Flattops entry.

Hey mates,
Does anybody know of some 1/200 decals for a U IXB.
In particular U124, with the Edelweiss? I am toying with the idea of hand painting, but would rather do a decal if possible.

Would you consider scale it to 1/200 (if you have it in 1/72) and print it in a Alps Printer?
Just a though and a lot easier than hand paint it

Hi Skipper,
I don't have an Alps printer or the decal in 1/72. I don't have enough room to own a 1/72 scale U boat. Although I drool on them at the LHS.

I still have my kit, and still intend to build it....

Welcome to the club!!! :-) :-)
Let me check some of my Gakken books - I am sure there's one picture there that fits your needs

HA! There's still hope for me and I've not been lost at sea! Surely I can manage to find the time squeeze in a Sub in a year! Indeed, thank goodness it's another long campaign!

Since my last reply, I have broken the seal of my entry, the USS Hampton Nuke sub,1/350, by DML, Gunny
Gunny, just to give you a heads up on that kit. I did one up as the Boise (SSN 764) for the original DDD campaign, and am going to build another as the Columbus (SSN 762) for DDD2. (My son was assigned to each boat for about 2 years.)
There are SEVERAL things that should be fixed with the kit to make it more accurate. For example, while the count of the missle hatches is correct, their arrangement isn't. And the shape of the sail as viewed from the plan view (overhead) is significantly wrong. And the entire stern section requires some extensive additions to make it reflect how most boats are.
I was lucky enough to have someone advising me who'd actually been aboard for some time and I'll be happy to share what my son pointed out if you're interested. (I've got a few shots in the gallery.)

I check my books yesterday and I only found one tender with I-boats and it is not of the same class as the ones you have - it was a early 30's picture with I-6, I-8 and I-9
There were also a picture of I-16, next to the tender, but the pciture was taken from the tender - so...
I'll continue browsing and if something is found I'll let you know
Sorry

I will attempt to build the Mirage 1/400 HMS/m Undine. The instructions are a little vague, and I can't find any war time pictures of Undine.

It confirms that Undine wasn't fitted with the deck gun.

You could use Mirage model to make what appears to be a U class 2nd Batch (check the first link)
But check for details first

Well, I manage to pick up a much nice model for this campaign at one of the New Jersey Shows over this week end.
To keep everyone in suspense, it will remain a military secret until it arrives in port completed.
I will disclose it is a larger scale, actually corresponding with a popular aircraft scale.

:-)

Hi Dave
My guess is that you have found a cheap Revell U-boat type VII-C in 1/72 or any of those "Cottage Industry Models" early submarines (Hunley, David, Turtle) in 1/32...
Did I get it right?
;)
