Gator,

But we go untill OCT surely you will subcomb to the temptation and join in with a couple of builds......eeeehhhhhhh??????

I've got my kit and research ready to go. I've got a lot of things on my plate right now and can't get to it. But believe me, it will be done in time, especially since it's the first torpedo boat to see action. I'm building the CSS David.

Looking forward to seeing the build on this one for sure, Gator...I've looked at that kit many times, and very often wondered how the kit stood up, overall...which brings something to mind, to all the participants in this (as well as any!) campaign, it's a great opportunity to give the kit you're working on a viable review, both "inbox", and built, submit both of them to us here at MSW, and get your works published for all to see and use as a valuable reference tool!
Keep the updates rolling in!

Sounds like an interesting build Kenny. Can’t wait to see this one.

I’ve already got 3 projects under way but I’ll start my PT boat once one of them’s finished.

You know, next year we should do an ironclad campaign. There are some very good inexpensive kits out there.

The David was supoosed to be clad, but short resources prevented it.

Sounds like a winner of an idea to me, Gator, and I couldn't think of a more qualified reb to manage it than you, mate!
What say ye?

Hey all,

You have my vote and participation if you do a "Iron Clad" campaign or contest. But be aware that I tend to ask many questions.....LOL!

Ahoy, Luciano!

Great choice, mate, that should be very helpful with your build, for sure!
The "Anatomy of a Ship" series is a very well put together collection, and any volume will make a very viable point of reference, my friend...

Ciao for now,

Al,
Do you have any pictures of that twin .50 mount? The drawing will be of great assistance but I'd like to see a picture of the mount if you have any.

Al,
Thank you very much. I always like to have some kind of reference pic to look at when I'm building.

Here is another picture of the front hull gap

Here is another picture of the rear hull gap

Here is a picture of the hull drying

The next step will be gluing the rear section and stern section.

Ahoy Sean.

Was your hull warped ? I don't recall having any problems with the hull halves.
but
I did have a problems with the upper and lower hull fit.

The bottom part was slightly bigger all around and major sanding was required.
Are you having the same problem ?

PS ..... Just received the S-Boote book by Histoire et Collection. It is a good book
it even has a section on British and American torpedo boats.

Great photos of S-Boote and good historical background but it cannot stand
alone as the complete book on S-Boote. Good addition to my other books on
S-Boote, though.

Cheers,
Joe

Ahoy Sean!
Hmm, looks like you definitely have a bit of warpage on yer hands, mate...but you're going about it the proper way...if you concentrate on each warped area (as it appears that you're doing so in the photo's ) success will be yours!
Thanks for the update, and keep modeling!

Aye, maties, a little over a month into this campaign, and so far, some great discussions...let's keep it up!! One of the most enjoyable parts of any campaign is the individual talk of each others builds, which helps us all to remain informed, and also enhances the overall excitement of experiencing each others triumphs (and pitfalls!). . .

AND, just a reminder, to any of our entrants that are aged 16 and under, there is a special prize that I have reserved for the finest entry in your category, and I also have a special campaign gallery set up for you to post up your finished pictures for judging, HERE, and to all of the other entrants, there is also two seperate gallery's for both "In Progress" and "Finished" photos set up for this campaigns use, at the same link above...

Hey all,

I can make a progress report now since I can work on my boat now. I've had to wait since this boat is in a campaign and a contest.

I know not much yet but it's a start. More later.....

Howdy fellas,

Nice work lads....

Hey, I was taking a walk down by the lake the other day, and came across this bloke taking his "Small Craft" for a spin......he was wondering if he could submit his small craft in the build?.......... ?
That's his head sticking up with the helmet and sunglasses on....

How about it Gunny?

.............just kiddin' folks.

Tread.

Hey Tread.

I say yeah. I don't think Gunny gave a scale restriction. Besides, who who argue with someone who has their own fire support?
