Ahoy Shipmates

Further update here are some shots of the work on the rear third of the hull and with the bow glued in.

Hey Joe I am not sure if my hull is actually warped but it lined up very poorly and vaguely. I would appreciate your valued opinion on good reference books for the S Boots.

Regards

Sean

Howdy Fordboy,

I have also built this kit and am surprised as most of the others at the hull misalignment.....I didn't have as much trouble as you seem to be having. The important thing is that you've not allowed it to slow you down one litle bit....good on ya!

Hey all,
Got some of the putty work finished and put on a quick coat of primer to see the spots that need some extra work (around 2 of the bildge holes and around the torpedo openings need extra sanding).

Mainly waiting on my PE order now....

Ahoy Mark

I have made excellent progress on the hull and trial fitted the deck. I think it will all look good. I am quietly confident I am on the right track.

There is a bit of work on the main seam but overall its looking pretty good.

Here is a shot of the bow with the tape removed

Here is the bow gap to be attacked:

Hi mates!!! I'm not at all in ships but I have a couple of subjects at hand:
- the SLC 200 "Maiale"
- the "Barchino" that is a single manned explosive speed boat
I'ts a PT only campaign (I've already done my 596) or do you think one these subjects can be "enlisted"?
Thanks

Hi Fabio,
The Maiale would not count as a PT but the Barchino, I don't know. A one shot PT?

Gunny thats one for you I think.

Hmmm....
Technically, to quote Admiral Lachino, in his book "Sunset of a Great Navy" describes the M.T.M. as a "small motorboat-torpedo (M.T.S.M. invented by Capt. Guido Cattaneo), and commonly known as "barchini", piloted by a single man who would bail out of the vessel about 100 meters before hitting the target, abandoning the vessel in full speed," ...................

SO....
Is it a boat, a motorized torpedo boat, a motorized torpedo, or a boat carrying a torpedo?... (which I guess would make it kind of a PT -Boat!)

Fabio, my friend, I love the Barchino as a vessel, and I do believe after careful consideration, this would technically qualify as a PT type boat, being manned, a vessel capable of hunting and seeking it's target, and carrying a torpedo-like charge to extinguish said target...(whew! )

So, if you would like to enter this campaign with this entry, Fabio, (or anyone else that would like to!) then sign up, and get busy!

Cheers, and Keep Modeling!

Ahoy Mark

Here is an update.

A couple of photos of the insertion of the portholes under the deck

The next job is the insertion of the deck. I have trial fitted it and it looks tight but pretty good. Nothing a little tape and gentle persuasion wont fix. LOL The next update will cover this work.

Well I've been in touch with WEM and it appears that my Fairmile's are caught in the middle of change of casting supplier, why they could not let me know when the order was placed or even put a note on their website I don't know.

Looks like I have to wait several months for these
