Ahoy mates!
I mainly build armor and aircraft but want to get my feet wet so to speak with a boat. I'm gonna give the Airfix E-boote a try. I may be biting off more than I can chew but I'll give it a try... experience is the best teacher ... right? lol
Ahoy, Todd,
Welcome to Model Shipwrights, mate, and welcome to the campaign, my friend!
If you run into problems, or have any questions at all, please don't be afraid to ask! We all LOVE to talk about ship modeling!
Cheers!
~Gunny

hi everyone, i've just got my elco PT boat. this will be my entry for the campaigne. my interest is set on the PT 373 or any boat...commissioned by the USNAVY in the philippines islands. boy..it will take some extensive research and time to build this boat.. any suggestion or tip is very much welcome.
i'm an unexperienced boatbuilder but this one interest me very much. luckilly the kit provided a reference manual. the kit is big..hard to work on a regular work table..

thanks guys..i was wondering..is there any aftermarket figures for the PT boat available? the boat has been out for a long time. this will certainly trigger aftermarket items. hope to get one to complete the set.

Hello Guy's
Have almost finnished my Elco. Have ordered some of Gator's paint masks for the Zebra pattern. Whilst I'm waiting for the masks I'm just planning how I'm going to display her on the diorama. Some smaller pieces to add once the deck is fixed in place.Have now primed her in grey auto primer. Looks very different now that it's all 1 colour.
have added a couple of pictures before i primed her.
You can see the pic's at
http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrowse.asp?folder_id=1854753I hope this link works.
Building for My pleasure & hoping others like what I build.
Being built at the moment
Way too many unfinished.

Frank thats a great looking build.
Shaun looking good, was the armour plate around the front gun a local mod for this boat?
p.s. Gunny just ordered 2 x S-100 class S-boats in 1/350 from WEM, checked they had them in stock first
So my delayed entry is back on with a small dio (I hope)

hi everyone..hi shaun, the crew are in 1/72 scale. thanks for the tip..it'll be helpful for color refrences on thier uniforms. shaun, are we building the same boat? with all the scratchbuilts and add-ons..your boat looks impressive. i like to try the torpedo tubes. i'll check your album from time to time for reference. thanks for sharing.
one particular PT boat i'm looking for research materials is the PT 373..saw some materials..few pictures and brief history. this was used by gen. macarthur during his stay here in the philippine islands. it didn't mentioned if they sought action around the phil waters. but it will surely help alot if some of you guys can share more about the PT-373. the small picture book from italeri has a picture of it. unfortunately it didn't have a clear view of the whole boat. thanks again for sharing.
