Aoshima Models has announced the upcoming release of their retooled 1/700 IJN Seaplane Carrier Chitose. This release comes with a host of upgrades including a new design hull, deck, bridge, and the mast.

To go with their upcoming 1927 fit Nagato, Aoshima is releasing a wood deck and photo etch set.

Continuing to document the lineage of the mighty Nagato, Aoshima has announced the upcoming release of their 1/700 HIJMS Nagato 1927.

As reported in an earlier news story, Aoshima is releasing the Pearl Harbor raider I-20 this year. Your news staff has found out that this story has changed. Aoshima is now releasing not only the IJN I-20 with its Type 'A’ midget submarine, but also the I-16, also with a Type 'A’ midget submarine.

In an effort to bring the modeler retooled classics, Aoshima is proud to announce the release the 1/700 IJN Nagato in her 1933 fit.

Aoshima checks in with the newsroom with two interesting upcoming releases in 1/700 scale. Originally laid down as training cruisers, the Katori and Kashima, both of the Katori class, carried an interesting hodge-podge of 6" and 5" guns, and a mixed powerplant of steam boilers and diesels.

The Japanese Navy in World War II always seemed to be experimenting with unusual, if not cutting edge technology in an attempt to turn the tide of war back in their favor. Aoshima’s October release of the 1/350 cruiser submarine I-41 is another example of this all-or-nothing strategy. The I-41 was to participate in YU-GO Sakusen (Operation "Supremacy”). By attacking the USN forward base at Majuro where the US carriers were stationed, it was to be a second “Pearl Harbor”.

Aoshima brings us double the sting with two new 1/350 PT boat kits. Featuring both early and late war boats, these kits offer the modeler a host of diorama possibilities.

Aoshima Models brings us a post war twist on an Imperial Japanese Navy war survivor. In 1947, the Japanese destroyer Yukikaze was given to the Republic of China and renamed the Tan Yang. Aoshima announces that they will kit this final version of the famous destroyer in their new 1/700 Full Hull Chinese Destroyer Tan Yang offering. This kit is scheduled to hit the market in late April of 2008. Retail price for this kit will be $20.12.

Helping to preserve the history of the tall ship, Aoshima Models announces their upcoming sailing ships 1/350 Danmark and 1/350 Esmeralda. These two beautiful clipper ships are very reasonably priced at $15.84 each. They are expected to hit the shelves in mid March.

Aoshima Models brings out the big guns with the release of two 1/700 waterline Japanese battleships. These two kits, the IJN Mutsu 1943 Katsura Island and the IJN Nagato 1944 Leyte Sea, showcases one of these majestic ships just before her tragic end and the other in her last glorious battle. These kits will retail for $21.35 each and be available at the end of February 2008.
