The venerable Gold Medal Models has released a PE set for Academy's USS Indianapolis kit. It is also reportably usable for her sister ship, USS Portland, in her 1944-45 configuration.

A kit of a WWII US Navy LSM (Landing Ship Medium) is now being offered by Revell of Germany. These ships were used from mid 1944 for amphibious landing operations in the Pacific against Imperial Japan held territories.

Admiralty Model Works has released new 1/350 items for the Essex class carriers. There is a Deck Vehicles Set and an Ordnance Set. These are mostly printed parts and have exceedingly fine detail. A Chinese manufactured version of the Soviet made Osa class missile boat, the Type 21 class boats were made in several versions - t he Huangfeng class, Hola class, and Houdong class. The majority of Type 21's have being transferred to the reserve services but several dozens remain active and these active units are being rearmed with C-101 supersonic anti-ship missiles.
